All Faurlin fans do is make excuses for him, he was ok in a Championship winning season but Shaun Derry was far better

The thing is, he was never a great player, but because some fans treated him as one, his performances are always judged against those of a great player, and so when he puts in an average performance, everyone treats it as a poor performance.
In reality he is a good player, a good player who has lost his way and with a bit of work, can become a good player again.

Faurlin had a poor game, but so did the rst of the team. He gave the ball away frequently, but also played in a few good passes, especially for Yun to run onto.
I thought the players did not play for each other last night. In attack there was little movement from Austin, SWP or Zamora. Alongside him in midfield were Diakite (nowhere near match fit) and Jenas who made little effort throughout the game.
As for being fully fit, didn't Faurlin just miss the games against Huddersfield, Ipswich and Bolton due to injury?
It's all very well bringing him back into the starting line-up but if he doesn't have players around him willing to make an effort or runs, he is hardly going to stand out, given that his strengths are tackling, passing and winning headers in midfield.

Is this the thread for people that know f*** all about football or what? Faurlin is ****!!!! Are you friggin serious or what? I'm sorry but anybody who has posted in here saying that he is **** or something along those lines doesn't have the slightest clue about football. When we got promoted Faurlin along with Taarabt and Kenny were the main reason for our success. When we got into the premier league and up until his injury he had made more tackles and more passes than any other midfielder in the PL. When he came back from his injury the season after, Hughes rushed him back too quickly. Even though he put in some good performances it was obvious to anyone with any kind of football brain Ali was struggling a bit. IMHO one of the reasons we went down was because we had no-one in midfield (after HR had loaned Faurlin out to Palermo) who could get hold of the ball and pass it without panicking. Something we failed to do in the whole of the second half of last season. We didnt have one player who could pass and hold onto the ball except Faurlin who was out in Italy when we really needed that kind of player.
Anyone coming back from such a serious injury like Faurlin suffered needs time to get back to his peak. He was never blessed with pace. His game is picking the ball up and bringing other people into play with his passing ability. So he comes back from another injury against Swindon and still not totally match fit and has a poor game. So f****** what! Give the guy a break. Let him get his sharpness back and then we will see the real AF again. IMHO he is still without any shadow of a doubt our best player and the one player who can pick a killer pass. Ive seen Maradona, Pele, Cruyff, Best, Gullit etc etc all have s*** games. So if they can have s*** games then anyone can.
The negative comments on this forum are totally beyond belief at times. Last season was understandable but ffs we're top of the league and unbeaten. We've been knocked out of the mickey mouse cup but so what!. What is the priority? Mickey mouse cup or getting back into the premiership??? So Faurlin and a few others had a bad game against Swindon. Who cares!!! I would much rather them have a bad game in the mickey mouse cup than in the championship. I would love us to go on a cup run but not at the expense of sacrificing our push to get back in the PL!
