  • Samba Deal

Saw the other day that Willian fella is going to Chelsea, after Anzhi only bought him in January, and made me think we did very well to sell Samba back to them for the money we paid for him, as they are doing a massive fire sale of all their big players at the moment as the owner has had enough.

If they hadn't bought him back we would have took a £4-5m loss on him, as couldn't see anyone else buying for anywhere near what we paid.

Another good bit of business by the board, although maybe a bit of luck involved.

Deal looked very shady to me.

Indeed, more than just an element of luck involved, for once.

Ok I will get shot down here but Anzi guy is clearly pulling his money out of the club and there desperate for cash. I don't think we saw the best of Samba here he was not fit but I would put a cheeky £4mil bid in take it or leave it as that's prob what he is worth not the £12mil he moved back and forth for

Tin hat is on and Im legging it to the trenches

We were incredibly fortunate as Anzhi have gone into financial meltdown in recent weeks.
I don't have the details in front of me but something to do with the owner of the club and his financial situation.
Could happen to anyone I guess, would laugh my socks off it it ever happened to 'them' who reside in SW6.

I think what we done with them was a loan deal with the option of buying him if we stayed up (which if was the case was shrewd) for £12mil given they were in off season at the time so were not missing him

Could do no harm, and if we did get him back, we would be very, very hard for most teams in this league to break down.

Wages might be an issue again though, as we seem to have learnt in that area

No loan deal 7.5 million up front and 5 million for the duration of his contract. 100% fact

So did we ever pay that £5m, or was any money handed over by either party?

no money lost or gained and his wages were based on very very generous bonuses from start to the end of his contract. Never was it 100k a week! Shame as we never saw the best of him and he did care about the results we had!

It was a good deal for the club. I'm a little bit sad to see Samba leave though as a seemed to really want to stay for whatever reason. He wasn't 100% fit last season but would have been massive for us this season. But I think it's all good though. Our current backline seem to be up for it.

Best deal we've made. All of our signings haven't cost the Samba money yet, that is how we got Austin & Phillips. Hurray for stupid clubs!
                              Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                              And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO
