  • Barton Interview on Player

Really good interview with him after Saturdays game and I would urge anyone who has the chance of watching it to do so

Praises the fans and makes it quite clear that we have our part to play if the season is going to be a success. Spoke of how much the fans backing him at Home to Wednesday meant to him

Suppose the message is this season lets forget about the scape goats regardless of how they are playing and lets back the players team 100% and If at the end of the season we end up going up we have played our part.

Like him or loath him he speaks well and does appear to genuinely care. Ive given him some stick in the past which I feel a bit of a tw at for that now and if Joey is reading this I apologise.

Rangers fans are the 12th man lets ensure we are heard on the pitch by the players for the right reasons

you should feel like a tw at for slating him.....along with many others here who now want to keep him....
he's a good player...proved it down the years...
has a good disciplinary record on the field...
popular in clubs and with his colleagues...
real work ethic ...check his stats

had 2 or 3 "incidents" off field....so what..served his time
and no one here knows the full story...

lots here guilty of allowing the press to dictate what they think.

    note yan kee gets filtered?

      Just watched it myself.

He's right in everything he says, it's common sense really. Imagine yourself being booed when playing football by your own fans, it would kill you inside and completely drain you of confidence. Simply switch it to positive and the player who was hiding on the pitch and didn't want the ball now has a mountain of confidence and wants the ball every single time.

The problem arises though with effort. Joey has always put in a shift whether it's going well or not and we respond to that. I have no problem whatsoever if someone plays a poor pass etc but is giving everything and I'll do nothing but encourage them. On the flip side when you see players like Bosingwa last season then I feel it's impossible not to get on his back.

Joey gets a lot of stick in the football world but a lot of footballers can learn from him. If you give 100% the fans will back you, no matter how bad you are. The current scapegoat is Zamora, he's been poor since he signed to be honest but the effort just isn't there and that's the reason he's getting stick.

It costs me around 150-200 quid for every home game and if I see someone not putting 100% in for 90 minutes then I'm going to be pissed off and have a pop. If we get hammered but everyone puts in a shift, I'll be pissed off again but in a completely different manor. I can take losing, I can't take no effort.

I'm glad to say though that the majority of our squad at the moment put everything in and the difference from last season is hugely noticeable.

        Good post Matty

Only thing I would say is that the majority don't wait for a reason to get on players back and Henry is the perfect example. People decided when he was first speculated that he was not good enough (before he even signed) based on no more then seeing him twice a season the last few years against us. In his first few games he done nothing wrong but got mullered on the message boards for actually doing no less then he was brought in to do. We never even gave the lad the chance to fail before some fans were kanning him

On Bobby I don't think he lakes effort I just think he is a player who is now on a sharpe decline

I think it's disgraceful how Zamora is hammered week in week out. He's obviously in need of an operation but makes himself available presumably in pain. Watching that Barton interview there brings home the fact that barracking your own players makes you the 12th man for the opposition. Give him a break, he might surprise you....

Here here I watched him closely last home game given the stick he has taken and he still putting himself about but I think the body is no longer up to what the head wants him to do.

He also takes some treatment from the CBs hes up against holding him down, jumping with knees up and in defence of him he don't get any protection for the refs. I think if he managed to jump and get off the floor and contest balls in the air he would get a bit of an easier ride from the fans as for a guy who is what 6ft 1 or 2 he don't get off the floor and to me its frustrating

I think Bobby has a part to play but as said before he needs to concentrate on what he is good at and forget about doing what he may have tried doing 3 or 4 years ago i.e. he needs to focus on planting his feet, holding off the CB, take the ball down and build the play from there. If we can get him doing that then hes an option

For two seasons he was awful, it's not a case of getting on his back. If anyone physically turned up to games over the last two seasons we were in the premiership, would have realised that for 95% of the time Joey was woeful. No one turned on him quickly, he was a liability on the whole. Granted he has done well since we have been relegated but the adage of "big man in small games and small man in big games" does seem to apply. For the amount we spent and the amount our fanbase cared we should be a Norwich, Swansea etc ... but no we got relegated and were a complete embarassment for two whole seasons...we've been mugged off by a number of players and nothing short of forgiveness and instant return to the premiership will do.
I don't want to hear players saying team spirit blah blah is better this year, .....you clowns were on £50k p/w, just get us back up.

Thing is you have detached football players from the fact thay hve human traits you and i will work better for one boss than another i am sure you would agree and i truly feel that Harry is more than twice the manager mark hughes is,he knows what players he needs how to get the best out of them and how thay fit into a team.
I also think that not all the players we have lost are so bad they just did not want to or could not fit into a mark hughes team and i use the word team very very losely

Brilliant interview. I've always said he's such a talent
                          Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                          And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

He only played one season for us in the prem not two and just like the Henry signing before he even played for us fans were on his back because of what he had done at other clubs off the pitch and never wanted him
