Originally posted by Joon View PostI had not heard about either Park's goal or the contract extension before, but after reading this thread I went looking. After a quick google search the news article from donga.com came up. Donga Daily News is one of the three most circulated and well-established newspapers in Korea (think of it as Korea's equivalent of NYT, WSJ, LAT etc.). Here is the link to the article:
http://news.donga.com/Sports/3/0510/20130815/57032252/5
The article is an exclusive interview with Park's father, and it goes into a lot of detail about the loan and the actual circumstances surrounding it. Here is the outline.
- Park wanted more playing time at QPR or elsewhere in Europe
- PSV and Valencia [not named in the article but described as mid-table Italian club] wanted Park and offered him lots of playing time
- TF asked Park to stay at QPR, on his full salary from the previous season, but Park refused because playing time was more important to him than compensation, and he felt he would not get enough playing time at QPR this season [and Park is not the type of player that would press the manager for more time]
- QPR then asked Park to sign a 1-year extension to his contract and go on loan rather than a permanent transfer, and during this process TF promised to let Park go on loan to the club of his choice with no loan fee due from the loaning club if Park would agree to actively participate in QPR events, including the Air Asia event a few months ago. Park agreed and signed the 1-year extension with QPR.
- As it stands, Park will return to QPR after this season at PSV, whether or not QPR is promoted back to the PL.
- This is why Park stated in previous interviews that he may retire in "one or two more years' time"
I had come across other articles in the past weeks that Park stated that, as it stands, this season at PSV will not be his retiring season. After reading the above article, it all makes sense now. Park expects to return to QPR next season. It was also explicitly stated by his father in the interview that this is what is currently on Park's mind.
So, Park is and will be a QPR player for the next two seasons. Of course, this also leaves QPR the option of selling Park to the highest bidder if his value appreciates during this season at PSV. Good business by TF, and I'm glad to hear that Park may yet contribute to QPR.
I think that as QPR fans we should hope that Park regains his true form this season, and that he will contribute next season what he could not last season. Wish him well, he is our player.Kept the faith!

@ Tarbie, I remember translating some article and posting it on here somewhere, but I don't think the man specifically said that Park is retiring "this season", "next season" etc. It was always "after a season or two" and now we see why. I know some peopled posted to the effect of "Park is retiring immediately" etc., but those were just plain wrong.
As for TF and HR, what makes you think HR was not fully informed of all this as it was happening? While HR did not play Park very much, nor did he play Park on the wing, he is still a well-experienced manager and would know that a player like Park tries his best to perform on the field what is requested of him by the manager. This is why there has never been a manager, coaching staff or fellow player that Park played for/with who rated him badly. Even if HR was not impressed by Park's performance, he could not have been very anxious to get rid of him, which may be an indication of why TF found it appropriate to act as he did.Last edited by Joon; 25-08-2013, 07:00 AM.

This thread has been translated to a Korean website, some think some QPR fans are bit too cold-blooded and the other some think madara is over-acting and doing wrong.
Madara, seriously this is QPR fans forum not Park's fans forum. I like Park and I wish him all the best because he still has a year to go with us even after the one year loan, and more than that he is Korean.
However, even to my eyes what you are doing to the local fans obviously is ridiculously surreal and is not sane. I just don't see your positive involvement in overall QPR threads, but just your hardworks in advertising a single footballer who has gone out loan.
You might think the local fans of QPR are looking like mad people or unfriendly bunch, but since I have met the fans and talked to some of them in and out the stadium I can tell you they are really nice people to get along with and they seriously care about us(the international fans) offline.
Online, it is different because they can't see you face to face, you can't see them face to face, its only obvious these sort of talks are often misled and misread.
Plz, I like you, if you like to support QPR plz get along with the majority and at times you must listen to what the local says.

If I remember correctly the English media posted that park would retire at the end of the season but didn't post any quotes. They must have interpreted something wrong.

1. I created 1 Park thread yesterday. I didn't spam the whole forum. Readers may chose to read it or not. If they aren't interested about Park then they should not click on the thread and hijack it and post off topic comments.
2. I know the posters in this particular thread do not represent all of us QPR supporters. That is why I keep posting here for the benefit of those who are interested.
3. Some online people are not afraid to post what they think or use inappropriate behavior. This is very common in forums. However this doesn't make it right in any way. What you wouldn't tell me face to face you shouldn't write on forum is the general rule. Inappropriate behavior shouldn't be encouraged. I do not think I misread any comments.
4. I support QPR in my own way. I do not wish to do what other QPR supporters do to be part of the gang. Maybe you feel you have to. If they disagree with my opinion they may post about it. I posted that Park scored though and that is what happened. They can't really disagree because it happened.
We all are going to have different opinions now and then, that is why we have a forum to discuss these opinions. If everyone would agree all the time there would be no discussion. So why should I stop posting my opinion? (and be a parrot? )
