Stainrod, Byrne or Wegerle?

It's widely agreed/argued that either Bowles or Marsh were the greatest ever to wear the number ten shirt at Rangers. However what isn't often discussed is who is the third greatest to wear it.

Stainrod?
Byrne?
Wegerle?

For me its got to be Johnny Byrne. Fantastic dribblng skills, linked up with Bannister superbly and banged in a lot of goals on the plastic pitch. He also played in a relatively successful side throughout his Rangers career and seemed to play with a smile on his face. A real entertainer.

Budgie Byrne was my hero back in the 80's, alongside Bannister they were a feared partnership but there was a spell when Roy the Boy carried us and when he wasnt on form we didnt perform, so as much as i loved Johnny Byrne id have to say Wegerle. I did believe we had another player in that mould in Rowan Vine but by all accounts he isnt the player he was before his injury. Hopefully he'll get back to full fitness and become that star player soon.

Tony Currie was a great player but i think his best days were behind him when he joined QPR. He was undoubtedly a mercurial type of player but if memory serves me right, didn't he play in a deeper midfield/defensive role for a large part of his time at Rangers?

That's why i didn't mention him amongst Stainrod, Byrne and Wegerle who were all very much out and out creative players and fitted the idealistic role of the QPR number 10.

Got to be Stainrod (but then I would say that...). Best over-head kicked goal I ever saw (including Sinclair's).

Currie was a great player for us, perhaps my second favourite, but for the record he mainly wore the number 7 shirt and was more a creative midfielder than a roaming striker so can't really compare them.

Byrne was good but shouldn't be spoken of in the same breath as Stan or even Weagrlie.

Stainrod for me. The first and only time i have had a players name on my shirt.

It is a tough one.

Currie was a great player who joined QPR after his peak, but he still performed very well, but mainly as a deeper midfielder wearing No.7.

Stainrod was also very good, and not only was he an entertainer, skillfull and scored frequently, but he also had a very good and useful long throw that led to a number of goals.

Byrne was one of my favourites and was a player that I saw frequently when I 1st started going as a ST holder.

Wegerle, great player on the ball and if we are talking about skill alone, he would be my
3rd choice all time N0.10. For me, he was the last of the great No.10s at QPR.

But for all round contribution, I would go for
Stainrod
Byrne
Wegerle - only because he wasn't at QPR very long. He was sold because;
a) G.Francis didn't like him
B) Thompson wanted to cash in
C)QPR needed monmey to pay for the San Siro (esque) stair case
