I would have to give third place to............... Simon Stainrod otherwise known as, Stainrodney.

      Stainrod?
      Byrne?
      Wegerle?

For me its got to be Johnny Byrne. Fantastic dribblng skills, linked up with Bannister superbly and banged in a lot of goals on the plastic pitch. He also played in a relatively successful side throughout his Rangers career and seemed to play with a smile on his face. A real entertainer.
Wegerle was class!!.....Byrne was me hero growing up but Stainrod's the one!!!

I'd argue that Marsh was very much a striker, moreso than Bowles.

For all this ferrango about diving, these media types should have seen Rodney and Franny Lee going about their business!!!

So, Rodney was THE best pure striker to play for us, closely followed by Clive Allen and Don Givens IMO, whereas Stan was the best player to play for us. Les scrapes the top 10.

IMHO Kevin Gallen deserves at least an honorable mentioning here. Although his career was riddled with injuries and us being in the lower divisions, he was a great captain, and he always produced some goals. Not mye favourite player, but still one of our great number 10's.

I loved Wegerle and Jonny Byrne but I have many great memories of Super Simon Stainrod. Particularly his hat trick up at Newcastle before the 82 cup final, magic day and night out.
                RIP: Doug, Sniffer and Pat

                  all3 were great
for me i loved stainrod for his skill attitude and always starting scraps
wegerle was fast, so silky and skilful, a class above
                  byrne.....again skilful, an entertainer...

as for placing em, well all 3 share joint 1st place...

i suppose they all had great partners too
                  stainrod/allen
                  byrne/banniser
                  wegerle/sir les

then i'd go allen/stainrod..their goals got us to wembley and promoted

Maybe you have to bear in mind that a significant number if not the majority of Rodney's goals for us were scored in Division's 2 & 3, where as Stanley goals were mainly scored in division 1 with some being scored in Division 2.

Marsh's goal record at Man City playing in the Division 1 is very similar to Bowles overall record at Ranger's, about 1 in 3.
I have supported Rangers for 55 seasons, since March 1969.
