Could it be that Harry may choose not to sign any more players and instead bolster the squad with loans? Our recent targets have gone to PL clubs and let's face it in the vast majority of situations PL will win out over championship, whereas the calibre of players we could not persuade to join us permanently could be ours on a season long loan. Is there a limit on the number we can have, and is there a time limit?

We don't have any loan players at the club right now, how many can we have?

We might need to buy one or two before deadline day, but we should also go in for at least 2 to 3 loaned players for cover.

Wondered how long before started scraping the barrel with the L word. Had all summer and it comes down to this!

Not sure it's scraping the barrel. I figure you get a list of which positions you need reinforcing, try and buy for all of them, and if you can't get good value through buying players by end of window you look for good loans who might not have come on a permanent.

We may have to use loans because we're running out of attainable targets. If we get promotion we will be as attractive a proposition as Fulham and Norwich for signings who as seen have shunned us for the PL.

A few quality loans is not what I would regard as scraping the barrel. It's a very effective strategy if done correctly.

Just look at the contribution of Kyle Walker and Routledge during our promotion season........

I agree it doesn't have to be scraping the barrel.
QPR might be able to pick up players like Assaidi, Townsend, Crouch, Beccio, Sanogo etc on loan if they don't make their clubs 25 man squads.

Although I think it would have been better to have agreed deals (fees and wages) with clubs and players back in June, making them permanent signings in July rather than start the season and still look to add to the squad. Plenty of other clubs in this league did much of their business this way. I guess QPR were waiting to shift loads out before bringing others in.

Yes, and I firmly believe that with our present owner in charge then we could have signed them permanently, although Walker would have cost a packet.

Not certain for the number but I think a club can have lots more if they are not in the EPL and yes I think a lot of loans looks on the cards. If you know people in football and know players you can get a load of good players on loan - Watford did well last year using loans.

It has not been trumpeted much but Harry is getting the club to a more sustained finances with the players out and in. Must have saved tens of millions in wages already but spent almost none of it.

Unless there was proven quality (Crouch/Defoe/Parker types) coming in I think it would be better to promote youth team players and plug the gaps with loans.

Vague recollection of 7 being the limit on loans, at any one time.
But I think 5 is the max in a matchday squad (starters & subs)

I think Sturridge had to tell Warnock he couldn't name him for one games as it would have cost us points.....

7 total 5 in the match day squad rings a bell. As I recall Watford got around this last year because loans outside of the home countries didn't count and were treated as permanent transfers.

I was going to mention Watford! Presumably loans from abroad would have to be in before the end of the transfer window then?

I think HR will still bring in two players , but a loan or two is on the cards as well, as mentioned Tom Carroll of spurs on a season long loan.
