And then the loan window opens.

I think that the current discord has been brought upon Redknapp by himself. It was after all him that stated he wanted to get his business done early, as would anyone. He then mentioned the "mind blowing" names. And now here we are, about to play our 4th competitive game of the season, with us possibly having Zamora starting a game in his state, a very unsettled midfield and a decidedly dodgy defence.

We have been led by him to believe that certain players were on their way when there was no need for him to do so, causing more friction.

Shame really, as although I was never his greatest fan, he does seem to have shifted a fair amount of dross and looked like he was building a squad with the right character. Maybe it will all happen soon. I hope so, because Austin aside, he has attracted very little in the way of quality players. We need a strong start, not having to play catch up because he didn't get his team together until the end of September.

I don't think anyone in their right mind would trust the board. Sad to say the form is in the book..... Two weeks of window left simply means two weeks of agent inflated business on the cards. You need to have your apples in the basket early doors. It saves money and means you start the season as a sorted unit.

after the mistakes of the last time and getting rid of most i think a measured approach is the right way to go. we took our chance on supposed top players in a panic after the taff. hughes was trusted and fc uked it leaving a massively poor dressing room devoid of any leadership. we shifted the bad eggs and are trying to create a union. getting our fanbase onside goes with that kind of thought. i feel better about my rangers now than i did 3 months ago. u rss.

You're being a bit harsh there. We signed Simpson who's 26 and Austin who's 24. It's about finding the right mix of youth and experience. One eye on the future and the other on the now. We've also got some promising youngsters coming through the EDS.

Besides, 30 isn't old for a player these days, especially for those who look after themselves. Would you turn down RVP because he's the wrong side of 30?

Why do so many people think TF and Amit are mugs? They've probably made more money between them than every person on this board and every season ticket holder and member combined. These guys run successful businesses. I agree that things haven't gone according to plan, but they'll get it right in the end.

Nonsense, I trust Harry in the transfer market a damn sight more than I'd trust Mark Hughes or Neil Warnock. And to say "doesn't breed confidence in most of us" is just rubbish, since when have you been a spokesman for the fanbase? You've just got a bee in your bonnet cos Harry didn't want Taarabt.

Personally I think Harry and the board have done a fantastic job of getting rid of virtually all of the negative influences in the squad, I didn't for second think that we'd be able to get rid of so much dead wood in 1 transfer window. I also think that every signing we have made (apart from Karl Henry), have been the right sort of characters and have improved the squad.

My only real criticism is that we seem to be wasting a lot of time going for targets that are unrealistic or too good for this league. It seems that on a couple of occasions we have been used by agents to encourage other clubs to speed up deals for players. That said, I'm sure Harry has got a few things up his sleeve that will come to fruition before the end of the month!

I think we have perhaps moved for the unrealistic signings a little bit t0o early when they still remain with options which are better then us. For me Parker would be a top signing but hes the type of player you go in for at the last minute when no one else has taken the chance and he is desperate for a move which in theory leaves less time for someone bigger to come in and gazump us.

It coming out that we were after and had agreed deal with Parker smoked out others interested, had we gone in at the last minute others interested may have tied up deals for other targets making Parker surplus to them.

We may have to keep our powder dry until the last couple of days of August if we are going to bring some bigger names in

Exactly, there will a flurry of activity in the last couple of days of the window, there always is. Players who have been biding their time will need to make decision, youngsters will be sent out on loan, some players won't make the 25 in the Prem and will need to find new clubs. People on here just need to be a little bit patient, Harry knows what he's doing!

If ever there was a manager who knows how manipulate the transfer window it's Harry.

Which reminds me of this clip:

Yeah because our club has really gone backwards in the last 2 years hasn't it....????

We are in a far better place than we were then, regardless of relegation. I actually think given the embarrassment of squad riches compared to the rest of this league, their priority was probably getting big earners or bad apples out of the club and that was right. WE still have a core of very good players that any championship team would die for, not to mention the addition of arguably the best Championship striker around in Austin, a quality FB in Simpson and experience in Dunne and Henry. There is also commitment they are looking for other parts of the jigsaw so lets just wait and see.

Also, many seem to be ignoring the fact that quite possibly the best options will only become clear once the prem sides name their 25 man squads. There will be some gems needing to go out on loan to play any games this season and I fully expect we'll grab a couple.

Which has nothing whatsoever to do with running a football club. It's no co-incidence that supporters trust owned clubs have in general out performed the buy in millionaires relative to money spent.
