Anyway, I've said this on various threads this summer and pretty much everyone that has read it has done one of those what he said things. Plans for the future are exactly that, the future. We are building from the ground up because we didn't have a youth policy, nor did we have a training facility or a board with the vision to start building one. Future stars don't just grow into professional footballers over night, it takes years. We do not have the benefit of dipping into our youth structure because before this regime we didn't have one. The little bit of talented youth we had was raped by big clubs. Not only that but this is a results business, I'm sure the pressure is on Harry to get back up this year - you cannot do that with untried youth and lower league speculative risk purchases. It takes a blend of youth and experience: exactly the way things are developing during this window. Simpson, Onouha, Yun, Hoilett, Austin, Faurlin are not old men and the others (around 30 odd years old) are not for the knackers yard yet.
What is happening this year is down to relegation, a squad full of mercenary turds that H had to rid us of and replacements to have a crack at getting up, a lack of any foundation to our Club due to the previous regime and circumstances of Football League wilderness for so many years/money in buckets/administration so on and so on.
I just don't get it - some will have you believe a magic wand can be waved and hey presto, a talented young squad, capable of immediate promotion players appears, all on 3-4 year deals for two grand a week.
Couldn't make it up could you?
