Other than York, from my experience of big Yorkshire towns and Cities ain't great though the parts of Hull I see were surprisingly nice. I personally think we have a lot of supporters who are like sheep who say they hate northerners without any proper justification other than a footballing rivalry or fisticuffs at the local BR station.

There are unpleasant deprived areas in the north and in the south
there are unpleasant and stupid people in the north and in the south
There are lovely people in the north and the south
there are lovely places to live in the north and the south, its just that in the north you can get to and from them generally much quicker
The % of people living in flats is probably higher in London than anywhere in the north and not everyone who lives in a flat is a scumbag, north or south
Wolverhampton is in the midlands, oop north doesnt start until you get past Stoke or Nottingham
Yorkshire has quite a few grim spots but also a lot of really lovely places

The primary differences between the north and south are that there is generally a higher level of income per capita in the south and the cost of living is higher in the south.

Burnley isnt the greatest town in the country but its paradise compared to Luton as Luton is in the south does that mean the whole of the south is a bigger shithole than the north?
its New Era number 8 i tell thee, bring on the fireworks

I know Shepherds Bush isn't great but you are only around the corner to Chiswick ie civilisation where as in Huddersfield you have Bradford and leeds calling. I also accept why they hate us as jealousy is natural. Very few skilled jobs and very low pay. Yes you can have a 5 bedroom house but your view will be of a bordered up warehouse
Spot on. There are many part of the south which are not so great but almost around the corner there is somewhere lovely. Up there we drove for miles in traffic to get away from the ground and on to the motorway on Saturday and I wouldn't want to be found living anywhere near it. Proper grim! Even the people looked like they were everyone's brother or sister who all slept together in the same bed for some fun and frollicks.

Hale and Pace - the northern calypso

Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Slating northerners for not liking their accents makes you sound like a *****. Maybe it's because I've studied and worked with folk from all over the UK that its the norm to come across fellow Brits. Still with an estimated half a million illegal s living in London it's easy to forget where the real shithole is and what areas are just a bit rough.
Ok, so you've worked and studied with them. That makes 2 of us. I've got family up there too, which means I can have an opinion based on first hand experience aswell. The fact is I don't like them, and it's not just down to their accents.

Well an estimate is exactly that, so hardly the kind of thing you want to throw into a discussion if your trying to persuade me to think otherwise. I estimate 75% or northern folk are thick. Does That throw any more weight to my way of thinking?

Anyway bored now. Difference in opinion. Nothing will change from either of us. End

Call it as I see it and from leaving the M1 and the drive in, looked a pretty ncie little place tbh. Neighbouring towns / cities aside as that's irrelevant to Huddersfield, it's far nicer than such northern slums as Wigan, Hul, Bradistan etc which, I agree, are terrible.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

I,m up for a bit of north/south **** taking at football , but at the same time, I've met some northern lads that are good lads and some that are t its, either way they were always miles behind us in the casual stakes ,no matter how much they try and rewrite history now.

From what I've seen over the years, Huddersfield is a nice place and there are other very nice places in spitting distance (Hebden Bridge, Todmorden, Hepworth, Colne etc) just as there are nice places close to the Bush. Also - the northern parts of Leeds, near Roundhay Park, are glorious.

Still......everyone has a right to narrow minded, ignorant stereotypes I suppose.
