They want to get rid of him because they are about to have 85m in the bank and can bring in a far better striker
Spurs want to compete for a top 4 spot and defoe won't get them there fact
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Defoe is still an England International player, he could go to any club and still score goals, that's what I mean.

That's a good point. 30 isn't old for a player these days and he has a few more years left in him.

Defoe has still got it though, clinical striker. £6m is probably what he's worth imo, regular england starter and scores regularly in the premier league. He has another couple years in him before he starts to 'decline' in quality imo.

Levy is holding out for £100m. There's no guarantee he'll get that so Bale may well stay put at Spurs.

Also, they've just bought Soldado, pushing Defoe further down the pecking order.

Difference is drogba has done it rellying on brut strength. Defoe need that yard of pace. I wouldn't pay 6m for a player with no sale on fee and if he wasn't to gain up promotion then its shocking business

What player have we purchased that we actually sold on for money?

Anton was on a contract and we still give him away on a free transfer?

Some people saying no to Jermain Defoe. I really have read it all.

The guy will score 15 to 20 goals in the Premier League let alone the championship. He plays most weeks and scores for a top 4/5 Premiership side, has consistently scored goals at that level and is an England international who scores on that stage as well.He would absolutely rip the championship apart and score for fun.

But yet because he is 30 ( So is Van Persie so i guess we would reject him on that basis ) he is too old. Ridiculous. So what if he costs 6 million quid. If he gets the goals to secure promotion it is more than a bargain.

Defoe is from all reports including himself saying he is the fittest and sharpest he has ever been. Your not buying him to sell him on you are buying him to score you goals which he will.

Much much better then our current attackers. If we was a top 6 prem side I may turn my nose up to him, but as I said earlier no chance we will sign him.

Jesus, I can't believe people are saying no, £6m is cheap for a top striker who is a great finisher, what is wrong with people 30 is not old for a footballer, Giggs is 40 FFS and is still quality

I don't think he'll want to drop down to the Championship to be honest.

Exactly.. I too don't understand why they want to get rid of him?
Sell Mbia Diakite, Cesar and Granero and raise 14m to fund buying Defoe and Zapata along with another younger centre back.

Considering we paid around 6 mill for Bobby, the same for Defoe is a bargain.
