In the Football League, loan deals are allowed once a week has passed following the closing of the window.
Outside the transfer windows, any club may still sign players on an emergency basis (such as if they had no goalkeepers available) if they obtain special dispensation from their competition's governing body, such as the Premier League.
Players who are out of contract and do not have a club, can be signed outside of the transfer window if they were unattached free agents when the previous window closed.
We knew all of this already but as tomorrow is a week since the window closed what business will we be doing?
Borrowdale needs competition and Simpson needs a partner. Whether Taraabt starts upfront or not we need better quality on the bench. Scunny won't loan Hooper as losing him will almost guarantee them relegation and unless Gillingham have serious financial problems Jackson won't be leaving to soon either. But having said that Plymouth lost Buzsaky during a loan window even though they could have afforded to keep him.
So who could be available?
Michael Ball is still available on a free, as is Mark Viduka but both would cost a pretty penny. DJ Campbell can't get a game for Leicester neither can Harewood for Aston Villa. Wellbeck hasn't played a minute yet, neither has Healey or Murphy at Sunderland nor James Vaughan, Benjani or Vela. Luke Young and Nicky Shorey haven't appeared as yet in the Premiership for Villa nor has Traore for Arsenal. None of these players can sign for other Premiership teams till January.
Come on Gianni give Martin O'Neil a ring and bring in Harewood and Shorey.
