  • Loan window opens shortly

    Taken from BBC Sport
In the Football League, loan deals are allowed once a week has passed following the closing of the window.

Outside the transfer windows, any club may still sign players on an emergency basis (such as if they had no goalkeepers available) if they obtain special dispensation from their competition's governing body, such as the Premier League.

Players who are out of contract and do not have a club, can be signed outside of the transfer window if they were unattached free agents when the previous window closed.

We knew all of this already but as tomorrow is a week since the window closed what business will we be doing?

Borrowdale needs competition and Simpson needs a partner. Whether Taraabt starts upfront or not we need better quality on the bench. Scunny won't loan Hooper as losing him will almost guarantee them relegation and unless Gillingham have serious financial problems Jackson won't be leaving to soon either. But having said that Plymouth lost Buzsaky during a loan window even though they could have afforded to keep him.

    So who could be available?

Michael Ball is still available on a free, as is Mark Viduka but both would cost a pretty penny. DJ Campbell can't get a game for Leicester neither can Harewood for Aston Villa. Wellbeck hasn't played a minute yet, neither has Healey or Murphy at Sunderland nor James Vaughan, Benjani or Vela. Luke Young and Nicky Shorey haven't appeared as yet in the Premiership for Villa nor has Traore for Arsenal. None of these players can sign for other Premiership teams till January.

Come on Gianni give Martin O'Neil a ring and bring in Harewood and Shorey.

I say give Viduka a try. Put him on a treadmil 24/7 one whole week, might come good.
Banning people is no longer my hobby,

Interesting. The Barclays Fantasy Website is ran by Actim Stats which states that all of these players had played zero minutes but didn't say any of them were injured while it does have many other players listed as injured with zero minutes played.

Traore and Vela both listed on Arsenal site as still yet to resume training, Harewood lost a deadline day transfer with an ankle injury, Benjani had to cancel a deal with Pompey as he isnt fit, and Vaughan had another operation over the summer

I trust what you say as I do now remember about both the Benjani and Harewood deals breaking down. Any idea when either will return to training?

Who would you like us to sign during the loan window?

Is Viduka still without a club? Amazing if so. I don't know the particular circumstance but you have to wonder whether he has just "lost it" the way some players seem to suddenly, or whether he is holding out for ridiculous money. Constrast that with a Scandanavian player I saw being interviewed over the weekend who had played for Coventry and several reasonably big clubs before being released - he was now playing for free for some first or second division side to get back in the market place, and seemed both keen and modest. Some of these big time Charlies might learn something from him...

i think we will see quiet a few loaned out,Pat must go,but he wont get a team in the championship, league 1 maybe, but will they pay his wages???,Helguson should go as well, lost patience with him,but we need a QUALITY striker, not some s@it player like D J Cambell who is no better than Helguson, just a waste of time bringing him in.

Don't know enough about Campbell - was on fire for Blackpool at the end of last season and his goals probably kept them up. But then Nardillo had done much the same for Barnsley the previous season and didn't look a world beater for us. Some players don't click at a particular club and think with his Championship experience he wd be better than Pellicori - but hard to believe he would score the goals to mount a promotion push if he can't even get near Leicester's first team...
