  • Charlie Austin - Type of Player

I doubt many, including me, on here have seen too much of Charlie Austin. What type of player is he?

Given his physique I'm expecting an old fashioned British centre forward, bit of a Grant Holt.

Excited by his goals ratio though, about time we had an out and out goalscorer.

I don't think he is as big as people are making out. I have always seen him as an on the shoulder striker who comes to life in the box certainly not someone you throw the ball up too in the Furlong or Zamora mould

I'd say 6'2 is pretty big, certainly big enough to be considered a target man but he is quite fast as well

            Austin is a complete forward,

He can head, score with both feet, hes quick and a great finish at that.

Oh and mainly a damn good poacher. Michael Owen.....

            DONE

That's the best description of him I have seen! Tried to describe him to the Mrs earlier and you are right. Very much a shearer kind of player

As much as I can't stand him Grant Holt was Norwich's player of the year 3 years running and 2nd in the Championship player of the year when Adel won it.

                Not a bad effort

TBH I was a bit surprised that he was a big lad. Sounds like he should be small....

Anyway hope he is better than Holt.

Living in swindon, i have heard a few things about austin. Undoutably good striker, that is true but he has some baggage. He has had a few drink/drug problems and that probably stopped him being signed by a top premier side so far. What worries me slightly is that London might pose too many temptations.

You would hope if this is common knowledge that the club will be proactive and put some sort of care plan in place to support him and protect him from the bright lights of the Smoke

Absolutely true. Lets hope they are on the case. Potentially great signing though.
