  • Sorry for yet another such thread, but mods / MYU help required ref ads....

As per thread title, apologies for another thread regarding the ad (as I know it's almost a weekly thing these days!), but over the past 24hrs, whenever I try & click on any page of the forum whilst at work, I get a pop up saying something along the lines of "The current web page is trying to open a site on your intranet. Do you want to allow this? which is then followed by an IP address and a website referring to both Amazon & Paddy Power (Amazon first, then when I click no, the same pops up again but with the Paddy Power address). I have no such issues with any other websites.

Once I click off it I am greeted with the desired web page within the forum I had initially clicked on, but it's pain staking to say the least having to go through this process at quite literally every click of a button - any chance of a heads up as to why this is / how I can get rid of it because there's no way I will be able to use the website with such pop ups (half of ya probably think it's a blessing if it gets rid of me eh ).

Bear in mind my IT terminology is limited so any responses, pleae keep "id1ot proof" for me :sorry:

Cheers in advance for any help.

You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

I think it sounds like a work IT security thing rather than a WATRB issue. Does it happen at home?

You may be able to avoid it by adding to the trusted sites in the browser settings but you may not be able to do that at work (I'm not).

Assuming you are using Internet Explorer and don't want to try messing with the settings, the simplest way I can think of is downloading and installing Mozilla Firefox.

Once you log into the WATRB site using that browser (don't forget to check the "Remember me" button), it should be nag-free.

This will not work if your administrator has security settings set to disable installation of programs, etc.

I read your post more closely and realized you may just have pop-up blocker disabled.

Under Tools menu, look for Pop-Up Blocker and enable it or change settings to block pop-ups from WATRB.
