  • the season starts in 3 days time, so why do QPR only have two strikers...

... if we can describe them as such i.e. Zamora and Johnson.

Remy is on the books, but
    a) has been injured and not trained or participated in the friendlies
    b) is still available for a transfer.

If either of the two above get injured (very likely) against Sheff Weds, QPR may need to call upon Hitchcock and Sutherland as cover.

How and why does the club get itself into such a position so close to the start of the season?
We all knew the lack of strikers would cause problems last season (and ultimately a lack of goals was the main reason for relegation) and yet the situation is being repeated again.

Remy will start on Sat, as a farewell match. Austin to be paraded before kick off.

Without another striker, if any two of the INJURY PRONED strikers we got go injured.. we can kiss getting promoted goodbye.

100% agree with you, this has been our problem last season and now looks like it may fall into the same pattern this season.

Although I admire Hitchcock and Sutherland in Pre-season, We still lack a striker that wants to play for us and will do the job week in and week out.

Remy is a brilliant striker and we are still fortunate to have him after being relegated but soon as the court case is clear, I have a feeling he may not stay for too long. He's only young and wants to prove himself for bigger things like the world cup.

Very frustrating we didn't get a striker in start of the transfer window. This is what we should've been looking for at the top of the list of types of player we need.

So many posters on here want young players who are hungry and want to play for us then moan that the cover up front is too young and won't do a job week in week out. Probably not a good comparison but Sutherland Hitchcock could easily be dichio Gallen or Goddard Allen....and before the screaming starts they need a couple of games in the championship before you judge them.... A man most people wanted for the England job deems them worth a chance so lets let him be the judge of it as its him who ultimately will be sacked if the young uns aren't up to it..

FWIW Harry said Remy is now back in training and possibly in contention for Saturday. He did take part in some of the pre-season training.

Sutherland is a midfielder i believe?

Harry must have somebody lined up. Cant surely be thinking of starting the season with 2 strikers! I know there is a long time to go in the window, but there are a fair few games in between as well. Chances are one or both will get injured and Remy may leave.

Harry hasnt filled us with much confidence as of yet, but the way its going he is treading a very fine line

If we end up with Zamora and Johnson as our main strikers we are doomed

How do you know? Maybe things aren't that straightforward.......these things are not as simplistic as plan ahead and all will go to plan........there are many factors that make getting the right players in very difficult indeed, and things can and do go wrong. Anyone who believes otherwise needs their head examined!!

When we were promoted we started the season with Helguson and Agyemang as out and out strikers. Clarke and Mackie were advanced wingers. We brought in Hulse on deadline day.

Having two strikers on the wages Zamora and AJ are on is extortionate for the Championship.
Those two and a young whippersnapper like Wells from Bradford is more than enough.

Our insatiable lust, as fans, for new blood shows we haven't learnt from last season. Buying the flavour of the month isn't the way forward. Scout properly and then buy. Don't buy a striker just for the sake of it.
Could we muddle through til January with Zamora, AJ, Skapetis and Shariff? Probably if we played just one up top and considering we have a plethora of central midfielders that's a very viable option
