From that Mail article "...The Huyton-born Barton impressed in last week's friendly against Leyton Orient and is set to start against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday."
he's said in the past that him and qpr were over long before the tevez/man city incident.
i guess i always assumed that that was all to do with mark hughes, but mark hughes is now long gone. so it's not the manager.
he still seems to be on good terms with the chairman. so it's not the board.
god knows, we're paying him more than anyone else will. so it's not the pay and conditions.
the only remaining thing i can think of is that he got booed off by the fans in the liverpool game. maybe the problem he has with the club is with the fans???
you might be right there Klonk, but i am guessing the majority of fans were prepared to give him a chance when he first signed. He has ballsed this up for himself and the only way to get fans back on youir side is to do your talking on the pitch. That is certainly what Furlong done and is now regarded by some as somewhat of a ledgend.
Barton is NOT the kind of player we need to foster team spirit. We will be much better off if he never comes near LR again, no matter how good of a footballer he may be.
Why do some people go on about Barton being "bad" for team spirit? It's a fabricated statement based on pure speculation unless the majority of the squad has said such a thing.
The team spirit was decent the season he was with us and we stayed up.
The team spirit, in house issues and squad divides was a joke last season without him in the squad and we went down.
So yeah, based on those 2 facts he clearly is the worst member of the squad for team spirit....
If what has been said of Zamora is true, ie, sits on his own for lunch, or even in his car and doesn't mix with anyone, then it's the likes of him that would be far worse for team spirit. Barton when interviewed on the tour the season before last and at Harlington seemed to be having regular banter with the likes of Mackie, Hill, Derry among others, so hardly bad for spirit, or giving it big time and not mixing with the "championship" players who got us up.
Considering he's taken no part in pre season so far - how do you think the rest of the players would feel if he just walked back into the team on Saturday? Think Redknapp is playing with fire if he plays Barton over Granero, Mbia, Jenas or Derry. Thoughts?
theres far worse players who have put in far worse performances on a consistant basis, its funny how everyone bangs on about how divisive a character he is when we appeared to play much better and had a better team spirit with him in the squad (see last season in comparison to the season before). he GOT booed off once not repeatedly as some would suggest! i think he did more on the pitch than people gave him credit for, as a person i have to say he grates on me as a player (especially in the championship) i prefer him to the likes of a lot of the nancy boys we have in our current squad. funny how barton got booed but apart from bosingwa no other players got booed last season when they played with a lot less conviction than barton ever did (even when he said his heart wasnt in it!). people get so hyperbole about the whole barton thing (when in all likelihood he wont be playing for us), when we should really be concerned that a lot of those wasters from last season are still in our squad
