Barton is NOT the kind of player we need to foster team spirit. We will be much better off if he never comes near LR again, no matter how good of a footballer he may be.

Exactly this, you could have a team of world class superstars and without any team spirit you will be relegated. We found that out to an extent last year.

This fool will not help this and only cause more divides and bring unwanted trouble upon us.

Unless I am missing something he was distinctly average/poor in virtually all the games he played for us. Had a few good games but not worth the risk IMO.

Also, if he stays, we will be forcing his hand to play for us, so will his desire be there?

Think we can see from the replies Mr Barton is a very devisive character amongst the fan base.
On balance I feel it's better to get rid for reasons stated around team unity but I do accept he is a half decent footballer ( if not a half decent human being)

Why do people still think this! He was getting booed off for poor performances. He was single handily responsible for some of our defeats and gave the cluB a constant negative image.

I would put up with the off field antics if his game was half as good as he believed. A below average prem player for me who cant affect a game.

If we're going to be paying up a large proportion of his contract I'd rather keep him here. He's not the type to sulk and he'll role his sleeves up and get the job done for us. I'd keep him.

Jist of the interview is AGENT RANG EVERTON TOLD THEM JOEY WOULD LOVE TO PLAY FOR THEM ............. When Alan Brazil asked him what they said he said they hadn't said anything !
Then he started going on about how JB was the best player @ Marsaille and they want to sign him BUT Barton will only take a cut in wages to play for his 'beloved' Everton !

He then waffled on about the Bale transfer being dependent on Barton going to EFC cause it would free up the transfer of Fellani .........

Shame your EFC contact couldn't stop laughing long enough to actually say they had ANY interest in BARTON !

Not true. He's thought of quite highly up there for the stuff he's done for the JFT96 campaign, plus he's an Everton fan, so there wouldn't be uproar.


Main reason he wouldn't go to Everton is because he's **** and they actually try and play good football.

just a thought about barton...

he's said in the past that him and qpr were over long before the tevez/man city incident.

i guess i always assumed that that was all to do with mark hughes, but mark hughes is now long gone. so it's not the manager.
he still seems to be on good terms with the chairman. so it's not the board.
god knows, we're paying him more than anyone else will. so it's not the pay and conditions.

the only remaining thing i can think of is that he got booed off by the fans in the liverpool game. maybe the problem he has with the club is with the fans???
