Well, I don't see the harm in assuming this really is Tony Fernandes. He certainly uses social media and I would have been more suspicious if his grammar had been perfect, as English is not his first language. Plus the message sounded real enough.
My thoughts for Tony, whether or not this is really him:
1. Thanks for joining the Rs, you are the best chairman in the league!
2. How many other chairmen have their name chanted by the fans?
3. You inherited a difficult situation, with the previous owners leaving you with a bit of a mess and a new season just about to start.
4. Sadly, Mark Hughes turned out to be a bit of a disaster, but you weren't the only one who didn't see it at the beginning.
5. The idea of continually paying players too much is downright crazy. They should be paid the going rate (i.e. pretty much what they would get elsewhere), and if they don't want to come to us, then fine, we are better off without them.
6. In spite of relegation, I feel optimistic about where we are heading. I'm not sure that we have the squad to bounce straight back up - the Championship is a tough division. However, I'm still thinking that with your support we should be back up within two years.
7. Please, please, please: when we build a new stadium, try to incorporate all the things that make Loftus Road so special: close proximity of the fans to the pitch, and atmosphere (yes, you can design a stadium so that it retains noise).
8. Don't forget about the fans (I know you wouldn't) - you may be the owner but this is still OUR club!
