My husband decided to join in the argument. His opinion is (and this is based on his logic not anything he has read or seen) that no club is going to make a bid until they have more information on his medical condition. He is assuming that Burnley are not obliged to divulge the reasons he failed the medical unless they have to and in any case this is probably confidential information. Therefore the player would need to have a medical at the Club before any bid can be made or any terms agreed.

The 4 million bid suggested by Nottingham Forest makes not sense, because this is nearly the same amount as Hull bid before they knew of a medical problem.
It doesn't work like that. Burnley will never agree to Austin having medicals before a fee is even talked about. As I've said in previous threads. We need to ignore the fact he failed a medical at Hull.

We need to put in a bid that is acceptable for Burnley (Hull bid around 4.5m). Charlie will then travel down to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical. If the medical shows bad results like Hull's did then we go back to Burnley and try to agree a new fee, if that can't be agreed then the deal will be cancelled.

The list of players failing medicals at one club then passing at another is endless. This situation is identical to Demba Ba. He failed a medical at Stoke because his knee was a 'ticking time bomb'. Ba has since been near enough fully fit every week for two and a half years and passed medicals at West Ham, Newcastle and Chelsea.

Given Austin's medical at Hull there is now always going to be a question over his knee which is a worry but it's up to our medical team to give a recommendation.

Clubs and agents talk to each other. I'm pretty sure everyone has a good punt on why Austin failed his medical and have a hunch that it was probably not due to any muscular or skeletal issue.

If a club wants a gamble - have a gamble. Burnley will happily take the cash

Just got a text from my source(who was accurate on the simpson deal) that austin is practically done and dusted. Matter of medical, personal terms have been agreed apparently. Saying as insider usually does, just passing on what I am told.

Matter of medical is the worrying part haha. Nice one though mate and I hope you're right.

Newcastle have pulled the plug on the Gomis deal and rumour has it Remy is in the North East so it would make sense to have Austin signing nearly complete.

I don't know if you're joking or what.....

But if Austin has a medical, surely he'd fail again? I'd still sign him myself depending how bad it is, no doubt he scores goals, & lots of them
                Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                And many more mistakes

He didn't actually say that he has had a medical, he said that it had been agreed.

If he don't pass, don't sign. Please learn!

Yeah I know, I meant he failed a medical at Hull so what will be different at QPR?

If true, then I would add a clause to the contract saying he has to go for free in case he get injured in the sholuder that was previously dislocated
                          QPR fan since1987

I would think he would need a clause similar to Dunne, that if he breaks down then the Club can break his contract.

Because maybe whatever caused the failed medical at Hull has now cleared up or gone through him????

That clause & this deal is a risk but his career has been fine at Swindon & Burnley
