I read that myself Ric. I always thought we'd offer him a better deal than Norwich and that's why I haven't slated him for signing for them. He wants to play at the highest level, it was as simple as that. Respect to the lad and I hope he scores goals for them. Saying that though I do believe we would have been the better career move for him but you can't blame him for choosing Norwich.
Not even sure that he will be their first choice striker, because they are still looking at alternatives.
If he was 19-22 then I would agree with you matty but his next 2 years are key.
He needs to be scoring goals at the top level with england on his mind.
There is also no guarantee we will go up next season and also he probably remember watching us last season creating hardly any chances.
The sensible move was norwich who like someone mentioned they have gone forward and left us very much behind.
Also with regards to Austin I think we have to sign him. His goal scoring record has been very decent at this level and tbh we have Zamora, who should of been sent to the slaughterhouse last jan. He is earning a big wage but is clearly playing with limitations. It my eyes it makes Austin the ideal replacement and i'd be shocked if we didn't go for him now.

I agree with you mate.
However with Norwich now having a squad being capable of establishing themselves as a PL team, I'm not sure if Hooper will feature as much as he thinks. I think they'll play one upfront for most away games and although Hooper played that role well for Celtic in Europe I think RVW will play as their lone striker. Also it's a big move for Hooper, can he do the business at PL level? I believe he will but that is a concern.
I believe in 4 years time we will be a better club than Norwich, TF will get it right. Hooper would and already has scored goals for fun in the Championship. He would have been earning a bigger wage which would obviously benefit his family and him. He also would have been guaranteed to be our main striker.
I can't blame the lad at all though and I hope it works out well for him, just gutted we didn't get him as he's a great goalscorer. We definitely need Charlie Austin now and I can't see why we're wasting time.
Why do people keep saying ' We must not repeat the same mistake with Hooper ' !!!
Hooper did not want to come here and play in the Championship .....He wanted Prem League football .....Norwich wanted him and they have Prem League Football .....Let it GO !!!!!
