  • Down-sizing Squad..Will Be Difficult

Clubs might want Ageymang, MAhon etc, but nothing we can do if they want to go:cry:. Bit like the Vine scenario a few weeks ago. Rumour is that a few clubs want Ageymang including Southampton, but he wants to stay and fight for his place.

Could be, we have a few that don't want guaranteed first football elsewhere.:waaaht:

when your mate GP has given them 4.5yr deals on great wages, why in the **** would they want to leave the club....

im sure if your boss told you that you werent required and had a chance to do the same job elsewhere for less money you'd jump at the job rather than wait for redundancy eh?...

fantastic prudent spending as always by Gianni

Can't blame them. Nice little earner here. First team or no first team. Reaping the fall out for dishing out too generous contracts. We need to take a little lesson from Chelsea here in how they dealt with Bogarde etc. If you're just gonna stay for the cash, fine, but you're training with the Academy sides and you're not getting close to the first team squad members or set up or causing any unrest during club time. Now jog on.

That is a question that should/needs to be answered by the person who gave out rock solid, gold plated 4 year contracts to average players like smarties.

For convenience, yet again you single one player out.

We know your game by now

              Thats right..

Comes down to whether he wants first team football or be a bench warmer!!

Clubs normally agree a percentage to pay the [player, but he will never lose out on his wage agree by his contracted club

                  We bought Walton for 200k

sold him to Plymouth for more, some of it based on games played (by memory), so we didn't lose on him.

Plus, he had come back from bad injury, so great bit of business

I've always wondered what is in footballers contracts.

Do clubs insert clauses about underperformance by a player or are they all pretty standard with just pay and contract duration being the difference?
I have supported Rangers for 55 seasons, since March 1969.

If they genuinely want to fight for their place, then that is great news. If they just want to doss about at the club picking up a wage in their comfort zone, that is ghey.

Spot on, Pete; it IS difficult.

So, as others have said now and at the time they were being passed out...
WHY SUCH LONG CONTRACTS FOR SUCH AVERAGE PLAYERS?

Your answer at the time was, it is important to tie these players down otherwise they will walk for nothing when their contract is coming to an end. Oh, how much we would like some of them to walk now.

Face it, the best way is to get players in on short term (1-2 years), but 3 years TOPS and then get them to prove their worth before giving them extensions?

Yes, we have deadwood now, but you can't look any further than the Sporting Director, who has had a free reign in signing these players for two seasons now. Just imagine who we could sign if all their wages (and his) were available...

lol - we got 100K... rising to 750k when he did his first moonwalk.
