    Excellent post!

As for being close to the manager, why? Surely when dealing with transfers and club finances, it's far more relevant to be close to the powers that be on the board who'll entrust you to negotiate with their money and within their parameters.......?

Deals like Hooper go belly up because they / their agents have an agenda all along. He clearly waited around until a prem club came up with the fee Celtic would accept and that was that.. He strung us along. It's got nothing to do with the board of Phil Beard ffs.

We got loads of signings last summer and fans lapped it up... didnt see many moaning then. However, since have moaned he gave stupid contracts and deals etc, but it's not him sanctioning such things.

Some people need a reality check.

Your'e mainly right but it's this any excuse to have a jib at Harry , he stated when he first came to the club after the Hughs handling of transfers that he did not want to have any dealings in the transfers other than say who he wanted and when a deal collapses he can't comment and posters want to blame him he recommended Hooper at the end of the season and then 2 months later it falls through we have to be more business like from the outset this is what we will pay do you want it yes or no we haven't got time to play game take it or leave it and move .
If we are serious about Charlie Austin lets see if we have learnt anything from this fiasco

          Some very odd comments really
Player identified as wanted - check
fee agreed with the parent club - check
terms agreed with the player - check
All the responsibility of the board and all done properly
The player doesn't sign right away but not because of any of the above but because in the real world the player and his agent are looking after number one. He has a decent option (in terms of wages, playing time and prospects of promotion) and knows his future is safe and then goes out to chase the dream of PL football knowing he has a fall back position if it doesn't work. What are the club supposed to do? Lock him in a dark room and force him to sign so no one else can talk to him - freedom of trade allows him to play it this way and he and more particularly his agent, have done the best by him.
Still, it's a free pop at the board and the club so tuck in

Cant see how the Hooper deal is the boards fault..strange that The Telegraph makes out Harry is annoyed with Beard. If he is it cant be anything to do with this deal AS FAR AS WE KNOW.

That count as a pop at the board and the way they handle transfers? We do seem to do these things a bit slowly.
Ffs what a shambles........don't think Harry can chuck it all at the board, he said done deal.....now there was a deal to be done........clear the lot of em out

Yep you're right in everything there but it we should have had a back up ready ie we have other options we are not prepared to wait to long this our dead line we can't risk losing our other targets if you can't make your mind up

How do we know Harry wasn't told the deal was done ? it was played very well by Celtic they got a better deal from Norwich Hooper and his agent got a better deal from Norwich on the back of us agreeing a deal ,why can't people realise our negotiators were used

Seems like we're putting our efforts in the wrong places. Premiership clubs will always get priority from the players unless we're offering silly wages (which should have stopped by now). So much for the earlier statement about looking for younger players. Do our scouts every watch league 2 or league 1 matches?

i would like to have seen a deadline set on the hooper deal of maybe 2 days for a decision, not letting it run & run. A lot of wasted time on a player who clearly by his own actions never wanted to be a QPR player.

Couldn't agree more. I would also add that if there are "lessons to be learned" perhaps one of those lessons might not be to sound off to the media before the deal is done. Harry is a great one for doling out lessons, not always so good at learning them.

Warnock never gave the press the correct time let alone inside track on private dealings, amateur at best is how to describe Harry over this. He has a responsibility to this club and fans (which are the club imo)
to not make us continually look and sound a laughing stock. Another reason why he should keep quiet is because now when we go after the next target he knows he's not first choice and he and his agent will
prob screw even more money out of us for his services because they know we'll be desperate...imo
