You have to laugh, don't ya?
Naaarrrrwich could lose out on signing Hooper, and lose to relegated QPR of all clubs.
£5MILLION for a striker of the quality of Hooper is more than decent.
If I were a Naaaarrrrwich fan, I would want to know why my club cannot compete against a Championship side for the signature of a player like Hooper.
I'm all for being careful with money, but come on, Naaarwhich are taking that concept to a whole new level.
One thing I definitely wouldn't be doing, would be coming on this board whinging to QPR fans that if Hooper comes, he will only be here for the money.

At the end of the day, most players move for money. Do you think people like Carlton Cole are moving to Palace because of his undying love for the club? No, they're offering him more money than most Championship teams. If Hoopers comes here for more money, you can't blame him. It's if he doesn't perform then it's an issue.

However a club like Norwich are working within the financial resources the club self generate, hence why, even though they are a premiership club they are unable to compete with the wages we can offer.
As I understand we have offered Hooper £40k a week over a 3 year deal - I guess the best paid player at Norwich is probably only on £25k per week max. As a footballer with a limited period of earnings which deal would you go for?
The trick however is to pay players that are willing to put a shift in for their wages - as we saw from the disaster that was last season we seriously got this wrong - its however looking like Tony et el are learning fast from their mistakes.
I am really looking forward to the start of the season - think we have the nucleus of a side that could be competitive back in the Championship - bring on Sheff Wed!!!Tony Fernandes Blue N White Army

Maybe its because I believe we're spending far in excess of that elsewhere....but wages will always be an issue for us.Last edited by Wiz; 24-07-2013, 06:55 PM.

Excellent stuff, can't see the other clubs interested in him beating our personal terms. The only thing we are good at is our lengthy and massive salaried contracts which are void of any early termination clause for any eventuality.
Also nice for once to be linked to a player that other clubs want.
