Greetings! Long time browser of this here online establishment but finally bit the bullet and decided i'd actually get invovled with you crazy cats instead of being a peeping Tom.
So, it seems theres a lot of negative/pessimistic Rangers fans on here recently, and to be fair, in the grand scheme of things I can understand why after the season we've just had and...well...just being a QPR fan in general will do that to you!
Anyway, I thought i'd come on hee and spread some positivity amongst you miserable barstewards. This thread hence fourth is to post about what you are excited about next season and to share your POSITVE thoughts on the club in general. I'll start shall I? Start as you mean to carry on and all that..
- I'm actually really pleased that we've added Steve Mclaren to our coaching staff. Sure it's not a long term solution but the man is well respected amongst his peers and players and lets also not forget he was the coach of the England national team not too long ago. I honestly feel that with Mclaren working his magic behind the scenes, working in cohesion with Arry we may finally see an improvement on some of the players who didnt deliver for us last year (Hoillet, Granero etc).
- We havent actually had anybody 'decent' raided from us. Lets be honest, as it stands, and i'm aware we have a while to go before the transfer window shuts, who here has honestly been gutted about anybody that we've released so far?
- Our defence now has a great blend of experience, potential, grit, pace and power. In Dunne and Hill we have 2 experienced natural born leaders who wont take any $hit from anybody. I'm a big fan of Big Nedum and think he'll be a massive player for us this season. I love Hill but would assume Dunne/Onuhua will be our first choice CB pairing...and what a beastly pairing that is! I've also been impressed with Danny Simpson from what i've seen and feel he epitomises the type of player we should be looking to sign- Young, hungry, yet to reach his prime, decent first team experience, premiership exposure and as comfortable going forward as he is defending. Suk-Young will go either way and think its far too early to tell how he'll do, but he's looked solid enough, has a lot of promise and atleast we have Traore/Harriman as cover to compete.
- We clearly have learnt our lesson over transfer fee's and wages. This one speaks for itself really. We've hardly spent a penny so far (500k-1m for Henry depending on who you beleive) whilst managing to shift some of the deadwood in the process.
- Related to above, as a result this means that when we finally DO splash out, you can bet it will be on real quality. I think Harry is well aware of what we need (strikers and attacking/creative midfielders) and will use the money we HAVENT spent so far to aquire them.
- Hoilett + Granero + Faurlin. Faurlin we know can well and truley cut the mustard in this league but i'm convinced if they stay that Granero and Hoilett will shine for us this season. When Colocinni signed for Newcastle in the Prem, his first season was a bit of a mare. They subsequently got relegated and he stayed and in doing so gave himself another years to adjust to the English game against lesser opponents to build up his confidence and now looks a solid player. I genuinely beleive the same can happen for both Granero and Hoilett. Hoilett more so for the confidence building when he starts roasting defenders for fun but i guess the same applied for Granero. Granero when he joined at first looked a quality buy....then realised we were in a relegation battle and his form dipped. I think both are the type of lads who, in a winning side thats full of confidence will come into their own.
- We're all forgetting that Championship teams can loan players well after the Transfer Window ends. I imagine we'll try and buy instead of loan where we can, but say we miss out on 1-2, the window closes and their parent clubs arent playing them (this is massively hinting at Townsend btw) THATS when i think Harry will make his move.
- Remy and Taraabt are still ours. So this one is a bit of a grey area. I dont think any of us genuinely beleive both will still be here come the first game of the season...but for right now they're still here and if you ask me what I think our starting 11 will be for when we play Sheff Wed, I'm still including them!!!
- Our kits this season, all 3 of them, are the best kits we've had in a very, very, VERY long time
Thats it for now. Don't wanna go all Brady Bunch on you lot but they are some things I think we can all be positive about. Now on to you lot........
