This is not intended to be a negative post but given we have 10 days till the sheff wed opener - if we are active in the transfer market - we will have strangers playing together for the first time in league matches. Why can't we get all of our activity done early in July? Last season was a shambles with all the last minute signings and then the excuse was around needing to give them time to embed etc. I fear this season could be heading the same way. We need a settled squad, team spirit and players who know each other on and off the pitch.

Agreed but if we make any signings into the first weeks of the season, I would hope Harry is experienced enough to ease them into a team instead of doing what we did last season.

Because unfortunately a lot of players don't want to sign a contract with someone in early July when other better offers might materialize . If we were Real Madrid or man utd then yeah but we ain't so think we have to wait a bit . That's the reality

There are 4-5 games before the window shuts. Hope its not last knockings again as we could be playing catch-up by then

Well - I'd rather we were sensible and just added a couple more in - we are also going to be left with a lot of dead wood training with the youngsters - I hope we can get rid quickly

Common sense would tell us that getting the players in as early as possible, giving them as much time together both on and off the pitch, would be the sensible thing to do.

However, this is football, where in the main, priority is given to massaging players' egos, allowing them to hold potential employers to ransom over financial matters before going on to underperform in a new team whilst they get used to the other team members.

And to be fair, we are most certainly not alone in this.

1 more striker and maybe one more defender and we are set. If we can get Bosingwa out officially thats fantastic business. Feels like a lot of people are expecting too much activity in this window. To be perfectly honest, I feel good when we're not rumoured to buy every single player out there.

Well seems that Boswinga is off (hopefully) and Tarrabt & Remy will be leaving (which I think they will over the next few weeks) so the question really is this team good enough?

IMO I think we are short on quality but hopefully HR can get a couple more in.

Do we actually need a whole new team in though? I dont think so, just been lacking balance.
With the new signings we have procured and maybe an additional striker i think we are good to go.

Hoilett, swp, jenas, AJ and bobby are good for the championship. We dont need another season with a load of strangers playing together.

I totally agree, last year we brought in 12 players and everyone complained. This year we have brought in a respectable 3 players so far and still people complain that not enough signings have been made yet. Tbh, it doesn't matter how many players we have at the club since there is no squad size, but the balance needs to be right so we either get rid of more ego's (I don't wanna call them deadwood as most of them can offer something) or bring in more workers but that just lifts the wage bill
