For what its worth here's my take on Godfathers assessment of our squad...
What i would also say is that there is along way to go before the start of the season with more comings and goings expected.
Lets properly judge HR at that time ... A few additions and it will look so different ..
Well here goes......
Strikers
Zamora - Embarrassing striker. Uninterested in play, no pace, no eye for goal. Just appalling. And old. --------------- - Harsh but somewhat true
Johnson - Will not play more than five games this season. ----------------- - Don't agree there .. if properly managed, a class act.
Remy - great but probably off. ---------------- - He will be with us up until at least January
Mackie - probably off. ----------------- - Debatable - will be useful in champship, woeful in premship
Taarabt (counting him as a forward) - probably off. ---------------- - Agreed - would like him to stay tho
Midfielders
SWP - Old and past his best. Only thing he seems to have done is score the winner against Chelsea and he was even poor in that game. ----------------- - Disagree, still think he may cause a few surprises.
Faurlin - Good, skilful player. ---------------- - Agreed
Derry - Old and slow. Maybe got one year left in him. ---------------- - Agreed
Jenas - Old and slow. Tries hard and passes the ball well, but injury prone. ---------------- - Disagree, i think he could shine at this level
Granero - Very lazy player who is not as good as he thinks he is. Can't see him handling being kicked by the likes of Sheff Wed/Blackpool/Huddersfield etc. ---------------- - Disagree, has the ability and lets hope he uses it
Mbia - Clumsy, lazy and doesn't want to be here. No positional sense whatsoever. ---------------- - somewhat agree
Diakite - Psycho and charges around like a headless chicken. ---------------- - agreed
Hoilett - Had an absolutely terrible season last year. May improve, but on the other hand may not. ---------------- - agreed, but i'm hoping will play to level that he is capable of
Henry (probably) - Old, slow, no skill and a nutcase. ---------------- - disagree. Not his greatest fan but may well surprise a few
Ephraim - Tries hard, but no strength or crossing ability. ---------------- - agreed
Defenders
Dunne - Old, experienced and fairly reliable. However, slow and injury prone. ---------------- - Think he could be a shrewd signing. I have high expectations
Onuoha - Will be decent at Championship level. ---------------- - agreed
Hill - Old and slow. Probably still OK at Championship level. ---------------- - agreed
Ferdinand - useless. ---------------- - agreed
Traore - good going forward, but woeful defensively. ----------------- - somewhat agreed
Suk-Young - Looked good in pre-season, but no Championship experience. ---------------- - agreed, but has to start somewhere
Bosingwa - Probably off (thank God!) ---------------- - disappointed with him
Simpson - Decent signing. ----------------- - agreed
Goalkeepers
Green - probably solid at Champ level, but still has potential to make huge errors ---------------- - agreed
Cesar - probably off. ----------------- - agreed
Murphy - seen him once in Carling Cup and wasn't impressed. ------------------ - no real opinionLast edited by skranger; 23-07-2013, 06:54 PM.

i've had enough of this 'we need players with passion/who get stuck in/with heart' rubbish
we need players with a brain, who can keep the ball and make the right decisions. i hope i';m wrong but watching us next season could be nerly as painful as the last one

Hi. I'm a new member and a Yeovil fan. I was browsing your site to gauge your views on QPR as the bookies favourites as I was expecting abit of positivity and after being relegated an upbeat feeling. Had a look at Reading, and Bolton forums and they are really looking forward to the new season so I am very surprised by how negative you are and some predicting doing a Wolves or finishing mid table. Is it really that bad?
Looking at your squad it looks full of good players for the championship. People bemoaning the lack of firepower, you have at least 3-4 players currently who could possibly score 15-20 goals at this level with possibly Hooper coming in. That squad reads more like a Premiership one than a Championship one. For all the comments here on strikers the keeper spot would be the one I'd be most concerned with.
Obviously you will know your players far better than me and obviously a huge number under-performed last season but as an outsider looking in you don't look short of much in terms of that squad at this level. All you need is the manager to get them playing as a team and motivated.
How do you think you will fair on the opening day versus Wednesday. I had promotion to be a fight between you, Bolton, Reading with the likes of Wigan, Watford, Leicester, etc fighting it out just below.

Fair enough. I thought Johnson had just returned from doing his cruciate. It was those two and Remy/Taarabt I had down as the players capable of getting 15/20 at this level. I thought it looked like you were getting Hooper as well who is another possible 20 goal a season striker.

Hey Semi, welcome.
Thanks for giving us your perspective. I agree that we appear to have a pretty good squad. However, by all accounts we had a squad last year that should have achieved mid-table in the premiership and look how that turned out! If Harry can get them playing to their capabilities then we should be in the mix but that's still a big if at this point. I am not too negative personally but I believe the current negativity on here is quite understandably fuelled by the huge disappointment of the last season or two.
Plus there are some miserable old gits on here.
