[QUOTE=johnbyrne;1110273]Everyone said similar when we signed Furlong.
I'd much rather see him giving 100% than someone who's supposed to be brilliant giving nothing.
Let's trust Harry, let's give Karl a chance and you never know... you might even grow to like him.[/

Hopefully a bit like Martin Allen then, 100% effort
"Steve, do you think 25k is a good option when there are indications that within four years, new stadiums on average have increased attendances of 60%? For us that would mean around 29k."
I remember the same conversations going on when Neil Warnock signed Shaun Derry and Clint Hill. Both of these players are better than those two and they've both been mustard for us.
Is Henry actually better than Hill or Derry though? Seems to me like his career has been on the slide for a good while!
Just read all thae way through that Derry thread. Fascinating. Those Palace posters stood their ground quite well and there is a few on here that must be a bit embarassed what was posted about Derry given he is still playing for us three years later.
Karl Henry....well, he was really good for us in his first four seasons here, including a year in the Premier League. Nothing spectacular but you're never going to get that from a defensive midfielder. A better player than many gave him credit for too.
However, from 2010 onwards he got this ridiculous "hard man" tag thanks to a butchering MOTD gave him vs Newcastle when he clashed with your own Monsieur Barton, a fair challenge on Zamora which resulted in his getting an injury, and a horror tackle vs Wigan, rightly sent off for that one. From then on he looked afraid to impose himself on a game in the way he had before and he was less effective as a result.
The last two seasons he's just been out and out poor, albeit in a dreadful team with loads of on and off field issues. Has offered very little with the ball and hasn't been doing the dirty work properly either. I was resigned to us having to either give him away or pay him off so I am amazed you are paying that much for him.
If you somehow manage to get the Karl Henry of 2008 back then you have a very good player at Championship level. Sadly I think those days are gone.
Good luck for the season, hopefully you get rid of your manager soon, the man's a blight on the game.
