Cesars howler at Villa put the final nail in the coffin of any hopes of us escaping relegation, what everyone is missing is Cesar is turning down Arsenal, one of the biggest clubs in the world, because of GREED

Good point Hooploft and I can understand him conceding goals if they are one on ones which were the fault of sloppy defending but some of the goals he conceded cannot be blamed on the defence in front. Southampton away he let a daisy cutter in, Villa away there first goal!! come and take everything in your wake if that means knocking your defender and the attacker for six then do it that's a keepers right hanging ball into the box with a keeper showing no interest in claiming it is wrong.

Like you say however superb shot stopper and his efforts at West Ham away last season and some of the saves he pulled off was one of the finest displays of keeping I have ever witnessed in person he was fantastic that day

The thing about Cesar is, despite the fact that many people on here slate him, he's been a regular choice under managers as esteemed as Scholari and Mourinho.

I'm assuming the slaters know better than those two? Yes, he's made mistakes, what player hasn't, but he's a current international keeper for one of the best teams in the world.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

He's made more than 2 mistakes but I agree that it is clear that Cesar has been backed by some top managers in the past. Let's be honest though, on what we saw last season can you honestly say that Cesar is one of the best keepers in the world?

It's the same story as Mbia, Granero, Hoilett, Bosingwa, Samba and probably a few others that I've neglected to mention. Players that have impressed and in some cases achieved a lot elsewhere but for some reason have failed recapture that form for us last season. Perhaps they're all here for the money and weren't properly motivated, perhaps the dressing room was just so toxic last season that players struggled to go out there and play to their full potential.

However you badge it up I still maintain that based on performances for QPR over the course of the season I didn't see a world class keeper in Cesar.

If we were still in the EPL then yes, but in the champs no. He's too expensive for that league.

Tend to agree - plus his style of keeping isn't suited to the Championship (IMO) - doesn't like dealing with long balls lumped in, which we will have plenty of this year.

Correct me if I'm wrong mate but didn't Green have more clean sheets than Cesar, despite playing less games?

The fact is that Cesar bottled it when we needed him last season and made some absolute howlers in critical games for us. For me the turning point of our season was the game away at Villa, if we had gone on to win that it was 3 wins on the bounce and a run of winnable games in front of us. Instead Bosingwa p*sses around and gives the ball away & Cesar flaps like a girl and concedes a goal. We go on to throw away that game (with the help of another howler from Cesar), we never recover from it fail to win another game!

Admittedly Rob Green has had his moments too but they all happened early on in the season under Hughes and I actually think he was a totally different player after he had settled in at the club. You also have to say that the way he dealt with the harsh treatment from Hughes and came back to perform exceptionally well towards the end of the season shows the character of the guy. I'd take an attitude like that over a money grabber like Cesar any day of the week!
Tell ya what Tarbie missed this post but couldn't agree any more!

Not sure we can assess the quality of Cesar on the basis of playing for us clowns while rooted to the bottom of the league and being whipping boys for most of the last two seasons.
Cesar from his cv is clearly a quality keeper, as to his time at ours, we are simply so rubbish that we got a player that tried but deep down I got the impression "the wheels turning but the hamsters dead".
Who on here hasn't worked at place where you have high hopes but it's so rubbish and demotivated that you just go through the motions and just can't wait to move to somewhere more you.
Look on this board, any thread TW frequents has higher quality postings with spellings being double if not triple checked prior to dispatch, TW free zones standards tend to drop.
We didn't struggle because of mistakes by him in "key matches" in the same way we didn't go down for playing the wrong formation, only one up front, dodgy refs, Bartons absence, Players not in the correct position blah blah ... We struggled and were relegated because we were an awful embarassment for 90% of our time in the premiership.
If we were good, Cesar would have been a great acquisition, as we are s**te Cesar was a luxury we can ill afford.
