  • my initiation to the superhoops

was a fantastic experience in 1958 we beat newport county at home longbottom scored twice
but it was amazing i was only 4 years old,in the next few years the only name you ever heard in our house was mark lazarus he was so gifted he could do everything, score goals create goals,he is the highest ever goalscoring winger in our history
but these days of the early sixties, were so full of oddities ,the biggest game of the season was always brentford
there fans would always tease us because there ground was so much better than ours
between the two clubs, they were considerd to have the most potential
BUT WE HAD JIM GREGORY,SUPERMAN EXTRAORDINARE..............

LOVE YOU JIMMY BOY...............so the big feature was the most lethal header of the ball in our history fed by one of the greatest wingers in our history
GOOD OLD BRIAN BEDFORD COULD MISS THE GOAL FROM 5 YARDS OUT IF THE BALL WAS ON THE GROUND

but in the air he was just amazing, does anybody else remember the early sixties, they were incredible

      Sorry Ted, 69 for me.

But the Gregory's were friends with of my old nan, his family had a fish stall next to ours in Hammersmith market I was told many years ago.

When I was about 10, my dad arranged for me to go into the dressing rooms with Jimmy before a game against Swindon to meet Rodney and the boys, but sadly he was taken ill the night before.

      Ah, the memories.
I have supported Rangers for 55 seasons, since March 1969.
