He spent all his summer going on TV shows ****king around with no care in the world about football. He has no drive to play football anymore, he thinks he's retired now for the most part. I wish QPR can terminate his contract or something. He recently said he'd rather go on dates than to score goals or something to that effect. This is coming from a Korean.

Skimmilk, you are greatly exaggerating.
A number of years ago, Park founded a charitable organization called J.S. Foundation, the goal of which organization is to help improve football infrastructure for youth throughout Asia. This foundation hosts an annual charity football game called "Asian Dream Cup", and this year it was held in China.
The success of said charity games are largely dependent on the participation of famous football players and celebrities. Usually Park asks some of his old teammates and friends to participate in the event. Famous footballers who have played in the Asian Dream Cup include Rio Ferdinand (last year) and Patrice Evra (this year), among others.
To help publicize this event, Park appeared in one Korean TV show, Running Man. He actually appeared on this show last summer as well for the same reason. This TV show, as you well know if you are Korean, is very popular in Korea and is also viewed by people in other Asian countries. The show's cast includes other famous celebrities led by Yoo Jae-Seok (the man in the yellow suit in Psy's Gangnam Style and Gentleman music videos). Since Park agreed to appear on their show, these celebrities return the favor by participating in the abovementioned charity games. All in all, Park's TV appearance is meant to publicize the Asian Dream Cup and the J.S. Foundation, and furthermore it draws the well-known cast of said show into the charity game. From what I've read, Patrice Evra also appeared with Park in this year's episodes. This is PR for a good cause, and thanks in no small part to Park's efforts, the event was also a success this year.
Park's appearance in the above show took under 24 hours to film. Park may have enjoyed appearing on the show as he gets to play games running around with some funny cast members who he has befriended, but it was just one day of shooting.
I also noticed one of your earlier posts criticizing Park for commenting that he enjoys meeting his new girlfriend more than kicking a football these days. Well, if you were in Park's shoes giving a brief press release in front of a horde of reporters publicly acknowledging that you finally have a girlfriend (Park's first known girlfriend, introduced by his father no less) at age 32, and an inquisitive reporter asked with a smile, "What do you enjoy more, meeting your girlfriend or kicking a football?" wouldn't it be the honest (and smart) response for you to say that "these days" you enjoy meeting your girlfriend more than kicking a football? The guy only had about a month to date the girl in person, and he promptly reported back for training. If anything, Park is probably in a happier state of mind and it may help his performance.
As for the retirement bit, reporters asked Park if and when he plans to get married, to which Park replied that if it happened it would need to be in the summer, unless he was retired. This obviously is a common-sense response.
All players should enjoy and rest themselves as much as possible in between seasons, and Park has done just that.Last edited by Joon; 15-07-2013, 05:41 AM.

Tldr
He sucks and his level is in the MLS not in England, he's not even good for first division. He's making Korean footballers look bad he should go to the middle east and hide away so he doesn't embarrass them further. He can take Yun Suk Young with him.

It's about roots and identity.

I think you are overcompensating a little. Just as we should not blindly praise Park due to our shared ethnicity, neither should we feel the need to criticize him more for it.
For most people, one bad season after a dozen good ones does not turn a player into an embarrassment. Indisputably, Park has had an exceptional career in football at the club and international level for over a decade. In fact, Park is the is the most successful Korean footballer in decades (since Cha Boom), which is a source of pride for Korean football fans and players alike. He owes this accomplishment to a little bit of talent, and a lot of heart and professionalism.
Park's goal this season is to help the club bounce back up to the PL, and whether he will be able to perform as needed is yet to be seen, but there is no doubt that he will give it his best effort. If he fails to perform despite his best effort, I would be disappointed but not embarrassed, and neither should you.
As for Yun, time will tell.Last edited by Joon; 15-07-2013, 08:52 AM.

This guy was like2million & he just doesn't try/care, then you get Asian fans on the Facebook sites telling QPR fans they're cr@p, Parks the best, Parks too good for QPR when the simple fact is he's not good enough for QPR & players like him cost us relegation, Park is an awful footballer who should give up
Sorry to be harsh but I've had enough of people sticking up for him, it's like your dog having a poo & you keep saying how good it looks in the front garden of your neighbours house

Well talking about his delivery on the pitch, he is one of the most overrated players and biggest failure. I don't care about his reputation before coming. What counts for me is what he has done with QPR so far and nobody can deny he has been waste of space.QPR fan since1987
