Scott Parker on £70,000???

£70k your havin a laugh we shouldn't be paying him £40k thought T.F. Said we won't have our pants pulled down again?

We surely will just not continue making the same mistakes over and over again though? Offering players that last big pay day invariably means you will be paying them till the end of their contract as no-one is going to match the wages especially 1 or 2 years later. You will be stuck with them which is ok if they perform well but not so much if they are injury prone or play like our lot did last season. Its a gamble and one that hasnt paid off up to now so maybe a change of tactic? Thought that was the lesson learned last couple of seasons?

It wasn't the money we paid that was the problem i think vblock. Quality costs money.But the attitude of some ripped the club in half. You sign the right type of player you will get good value for money.

PS I do find it funny how the papers know all our transfer business right down to wages and bonuses

Do we really need to be paying aplayer £70k a week to ensure our promotion? Do we need to go straight back up? Last season they spent millions with their "**** or bust" philosphy so now its "**** or bust" again? thought they might have learned. For me it doesnt matter if we spend a few season in the Championship if we rebuild then come up strong.

I think it does to Tony and co though....I don't think it's a case of do we need to pay someone £70k pw to get promoted, I just think Tony is backing his manager in the players he wants, and they must have trust between them. I don't believe the papers....how do they know our business? they don't

Yer Dave i also think its very important to Fernandes and his backers that we make an immediate return to the prem and i just hope its in the clubs best interests that they think that and not just their personal/business interests that make it imperative to them.

Get him on the right deal and he would do well for us next season. Give him one of our "Phil Beard" specials and we are stuck with him for 3 or 4 years on massive wages and nobody else wants him.

Decent wage with a fat bonus if we go up so hes got something to play for. If that fat bonus is the difference between his wage and 70k a week so be it if we go up its an investment

tbh we dont know what the numbers are do we. it is all just guesswork.

but if parker is signed the club can let mbia and diakite go - which improves the team and reduces the wage bill.

he can do a better job on the pitch than those two combined.

If parker can give us that backbone we need and discipline to get this team working well together, he's well worth forking some good dosh out on. Who wants to be in the championship a moment longer than they have to?!

Why pay top dollar to these oldies, its a lazy attitude to the actual business of running an effective football team. Look at Norwich Southamton and Swansea ,all signing one or 2 decent players for 10 -15 mil , just adding to the group . Our way got what it deserved

no , point being if we were to offer anyone that type of money a young ,top, prospect should be 1st.
