As Robson said I actually think our Media team do a stella job and punch well above their weight given their resource when compared to others and would just like to make clear other then the accompanying music I raise my glass to them I think they get plenty of eyes on the club which at the end of the day is their job

Something I would like to see and which I think we used to do in the 80s is a picture in the programme of our away followings at each of our games. Used to be a good way of gauging how many we had taken

    Keep up the good work

I agree with the above posts, it's easy to say this and that sitting on this side of the fence. We have a small team but they have been getting better and better.

I'm not too fussed about the sound to be honest as the content is good, there is only so much they can do and provide us with.

If they show live feeds during pre-season games, you can't knock them for all the work they put in for us.

That music they play in cringe and embarrassing, could find much better music thats free to use

The website is terrible for navigating and its layout

They are so out of touch with the times and stuck in the 90's with their media tactics

I know I could do a better job and gutted to see them running the show when they are way out there depth

The website layout has nothing to do with them.

Here is another reminder of the minutes from our last meeting with the media team in June:

            Official Website
            • IT says the media team is aware the site is a huge bugbear for many supporters. The club, and the board, is aware of the majority opinion on the new look site, and share many of the opinions themselves, but are unfortunately locked into a contract with Football League Interactive (FLI) until 2017. Earlier exit from that deal would cost at least six figures.
            • The club has however invested a five figure fee, signed off in the last six weeks, to make various improvements. IT said QPR is the only club in the league to have taken that hit and tried to do something about the look, feel and navigation of the site. IT said that Man City and Sunderland are examples of best practise and while improvements won’t take it to that level it is hoped they will make it easier to use and navigate. The club want it to be the first source of information for supporters and that is the ultimate aim.
            • PM said some changes are due to go live on June 27, the majority however are scheduled for July 11. These dates may yet be pushed back by the development company.
            • IT and PM both expressed frustration about the limitations placed on them by the FLI contract which was signed many years ago at a time when football and digital media was very different. The main website is run by a company called Sapient, while the Perform Group which used to operate the official websites still run the QPR Player service. Communication between the club and the companies has been difficult at times.
            • SS raised some of the small changes that he has noticed already. IT said David Scriven, formerly with Southend United, had been recruited as a webmaster earlier in the season and made a huge difference. PM said fixtures for the youths had been formatted in the same way as the first team, and the dreaded ‘read more’ facility had been removed.
            • The ‘landing page’ (the pop up that appears whenever you log onto the site) remains despite the club pushing for it to be removed – PM said he believed this was an issue with the legal obligation to inform users about cookies and the club had been told it had to be there.
            • PM said other clubs were watching and waiting to see what changes were made to the QPR site before potentially following suit – the club had asked if other clubs would be interested in coming in with us on the development and splitting the cost but had received minimal response, possibly because the other clubs think they might get it cheaper later by letting QPR pay for it in the first place. PM said the media team had pushed for Rangers to have the work done regardless and the board had agreed.
            • MW asked if the club were considering launching their own independent site when the FLI deal expires in 2017 and IT said the media, marketing and commercial departments were all already looking into that possibility but acknowledged that would be huge expenditure, even allowing for a degree of self-funding through sponsorship.
            • IT said the club had been offered three different templates for the site initially. CW said that some of the other templates being used were considerably worse.
            • All reps said that general feedback from site regulars was that few QPR fans actually use the official site anymore because of its poor quality.
            • DF asked about mobile access for Android users and was told it was another aspect being looked at. SS, who works in the business, said best practice at the moment was away from apps and towards HTML5.

The club see the internal media (programme, official website, Inside R’s online magazine etc) as being of increased importance moving into 2013/14 with the club’s relegation inevitably bringing a drop in media interest from the likes of Sky and the BBC.

Ok so we know we dont have complete control over the layout but no excuses for how the media team promote the club

                  Music, presentation, social media etc

Its lacking that quality thats been needed for a long time now

                    Just for the record...

The media team, knowing how small it probably is... do some top quality work.

                    1. Regular updates
                    2. Interviews
                    3. Videos on anything
                    4. Features

I'd say we are quite lucky, other teams dont get half of what we do

Can you try to be a bit more specific?

Any constructive suggestions people make can be relayed at our next fan site/media team meeting.

They're aware of this thread also.

Last seasons weekly regurgitated "I will die/fight for QPR, its not over/fight to the last breath" by a regularly rotated crop of all of our usless couldnt care less players was particulary annoying. Spose its just their job to spout out positive bullsh1t constantly and they should be renamed The QPR Bulsh1tter Team as "Media" doesnt really cover it :-) . All part of Uncle Tony's bid for world PR domination! :-) . Best one was all the excitement and spin they tried to manufacture with the press confernce to announce ......a badged up plane! As for the official website...its a shocker and a total mess. I stopped visiting that site as it was just so frustrating to use even from the first second when you have to click ENTER QPR after getting to the page.....why? lol. The layout is confusing, the colours are a poor choice and its full of little frustrating annoyances.

                          Music

No excuses you cant find appropriate music for free. The current music sound like cheap euro house music which was popular in the early 90's. Look at the current up tempo music which you can find lots of free music that is for todays standards

                          Social media

Have someone controlling them that thats into it and takes pride. At the moment the twitter is pretty mundane compared to other clubs. Get the fans involved and have better tweets. Stop treating people like idiots with the bullcrapp tweets. It was cringe seeing the tweets they put out

                          Presentation

Seems lackluster, you look at other clubs and the presentation looks better and more enthusiasm. Might be that we employ supporters of other clubs to run our media but thats just me looking at it with scrutiny as see other clubs do it so much better then us

You see when something as small as music is not right alarm bells start ringing as if they cant get this right then you look at other things and notice a pattern of it being cheap and old fashioned

We need a media team who support the club and are in touch with the modern world

Ive poked a hornets nest here and feel a bit of a w anker now as other then the music don't have a bad word to say about them think they do a good job suppose however its a decent debate to have as it would appear not all are of the same mindset as myself and as has been brought to our attention their aware of the thread so hopefully some good will come it

If your reading I (and think others will agree) like to watch footage of the R's fans and can spend ages watching the fans videos of the crowd on you tube etc at away games after or in the build up to a goal and also half time footage from behind the stands when, should we say, some fans are having a sing song under the influence I would therefore like to so see something like fan cam introduced (similar to tunnel cam) where the camaras are in amongst the crowd and we can witness how others like us are feeling/reacting

Not sure what others think of that or if it would take off but personally its something I would like to watch!!!!

Also what about filming and getting fans opinions during the game and as they leave would be an eye opener
