  • Have things EVER been simple and lovely at QPR

I was born in 78 and taken since the early eighties..as a youngster the first I ever knew of any off pitch issues was the Thompson era to be honest - was even on the pitch twice over that.

As far as I can remember we've always had off the pitch grief...something which seems relatively unique to a "big" club like QPR. I say "big" as we've been topflight/well known for most of the last few decades.

Shouldnt we just accept it all as part of the ride? part of the rollercoaster?

For I feel we'll be getting cheesed about the same things but with different names attached in 40 years....

i cannot remember QPR being in the public eye as tainted as they are now....yeah things have gone on but with media coverage more detailed now i can only assume that things are highlighted now that would have been brushed under the carpet years ago.
Have supported the r's since 76 and it's never been smooth

Makes you wonder why we bother. ;D

End of the day, we are a small club with few supporters. The fact, we have financial backing is something we could have only dreamed of a few years ago.

Shame, last season was a let-down, but I expect it to turn around.

In part its because in the internet age we know hugely more about boardroom capers than we did a generation ago. Any company - in or out of football - has its dodgy personalities and controversies. That said, QPR seems to have more than its fair share of incident. Nothing seems to happen much at, say, Coventry. Then again, its a bloody boring place.

            blame the internet

            blame foreigners

            blame benefit-cheats

            blame the media

            blame anyone

we are QPR-that's the way it is.

None of us would rather be at any other football club.

All messageboards of various clubs are the same, we just don;t go on them.

I love it when this site gets rinsed for rumours, yet you find me a popular football forum that does not have rumours, and I'll buy you a curry.

there were gripes under jim gregory....

i suppose we felt we would never fall from grace

we have gone from the prem lge with a team of internationals to near oblivion and had 10 yrs of misery...became a joke.

no one has the divine right to automatic promotion and the last few seasons has seen 15 odd ex prem clubs contesting to return....few do!

yes we are a small club, but we came runners up in the old 1st division in my life time with a small budget and small support,so it can be done ,BUT you need the right manager, time will tell,i dont think so...:very_sad:

In the 70's the gap between the haves and the have nots was tiny in comparison to today, and whilst the likes of Liverpool & Forest attracted the big names, smaller teams were still able to put together credible teams able to compete at the top of the table.

QPR will never be runners up again without investment on a Man City scale.

Whilst we were often more succesful than Chelsea /Arsenal/ Spurs in the decades that followed, they were were always bigger clubs, due to the level of their support they attracted in the post war years, when "big" clubs were formed.

I think we've had our best years, I just don't want another ten years of crap!

when we had our best years.it was because we were a team;some big name players and some who were not;but they worked together with a great team ethic;lost on the players today

these guys (the board) don't do failure (or so we're told) the question is am i happier with what's happening to our club, not sure really & that's the honest answer.

I've been supporting the R's since 1971 so I've seen some great years (undoubtedly the best years) but I've also seen some garbage

where does the last few years compare..........i must say i do feel a lot more secure as a supporter then say 4 or 5 years ago, that goes without saying, what do i see in the next 2 or 3 years, i reckon we will be in the premiership holding our own & if we are to progress even further then i can see us getting a brand new stadium which is a must for the club to grow

as some have already said, the reason we are shall we say not shown in good light with the media is because football in general has been highlighted 1,000 times since the days way back when, plain & simple really, can you imagine what we would be like if the media was like it is now when Jim Gregory was at the helm, i shudder to think

the only thing that does annoy me is the "fanbase split" because for years & years the great thing about our club was the FANS always stuck together through thick & thin, but unfortunately, not now, shame really

                        anyways, onwards & upwards..................U R'ssssssssssssss

There has always been bad karma at the club, and never changed.

Football has moved on so far now in the last 15years, unfortunately we got left behind, where other clubs back then invested in thier stadium, creating new fans, and taking their time, we didn't and we got left behind badly. Floating the club on the stock market finished it off really as the club was worth £0.

To honest, I keep hearing those kind of comments from PK loft and some others.

In reality, the last time all fans were united was against the brentford possible merger and the Bulstrode days when talks of the Fulham merger were being discussed.

Other than that, we've always been spilit. The internet just allows us to communicate with more people, thats all.

And what about the true fans (like myself and my family) that bought shares in the club that we've supported, only to find out we bought a piece of nothing. And then to be offered 1p per share by bernie & co, that was a big rip off and nothing could be done. Even pension schemes, savings, shares, dividends etc.. people lost a huge amount to QPR. I think it is the only business that I know of never to pay a dividend.

That actually played a massive part and split the fans even more. It all needed investigating.
