  • An Over Due, Over Haul of the Squad (Part 1)

With the rebuilding stage approaching rapidly, Rangers must be cautious in the way they go about constructing the squad to be ready for the Championship season. Not only do we have a disgruntled squad, we also have an astronomical wage bill for the second tier of English football.

"For years the board has loved to over-hype a signing in order to please fans quickly":-_-:

Part of the problem was trying to quickly create global name. This cannot be done by signing someone like PJS, but step by step throw signing young/hungry players with right attitudes like Swansea and by time people start to recognise QPR as a well managed club.

Samba apperently told to find himself a new club? Madness, he was clearly unfit when he came here. With a good pre-season behind him we will be able to more or less build a team around him.

The problem Shania is he could be unmotivated to play in the Championship.

How do you know he is not motivated for the championship? TF said Samba was the last to leave the dressing room after the disappointment of losing and that we would be building a team around him. Dont you think we should listen to what the owner says over what is written on a blog?

Great read and pretty much spot on i reckon.
            Some good bits...

"whether they sell shirts in Asia is somewhat insignificant in the Championship"

On Samba " Cumbersome and calamitous, Samba just looked like a really bad version of Danny ****tu" get the donkey off the wage bill Harry! £12 million pounds of defensive liability

Adel " The truth is if Taarabt was fully committed to playing football and making the most of his career he wouldn’t be at Rangers"

That´s true,Youzef. But I read somewhere that he this year desperatly wanted to make up for his blunders of last season.
On the other hand; his wages will always be a problem, but if we can get rid of the "other" mercenaries keeping him might make sense. I do also believe he has a relegation clause in his contract.

Whats this desperation to get everyone off the wage bill? Some yes i.e boswinga, park, granola, mbia but we'd be left buying bog standard average players that the prem clubs dont want and really struggling. We need to keep a couple of the players and build around them - The ones that have the right attitude and I think Samba is one of those. With a good pre-season he will be awesome in the championship.

I think we'll hang onto Samba and he'll find his form with a good pre-season behind him

Agree . Will be a beast when fully fit and would imagine he will chip in with some goals too . Hopefully not own ones ;)

I haven't read any rumours about Samba going anywhere.

Was thinking of reading the article and agree the shirts/Adel are good points
but Samba is very good and not sure why he gets so much stick especially when there are a long line of flops who played far worse for the whole season. So thanks for picking out that bizarre opinion as it saved me bothering to read the article.

Poor mans Big Dan on ludicrous wages and bought for an inflated fee. Very slow and distribution tends to be a hoof. Tbf he will probably find his level in the Championship just a complete joke that he has cost us so much.

Dont agree, a fit Samba is a complete monster in the championship, will be dominant defensively and score 8 to ten goals from free kicks and corners
its New Era number 8 i tell thee, bring on the fireworks
