Apparently we've made a bid in the region of £4m for him. As the most accurate ITK on this site I can not confirm this - I'll have to talk to my source tonight at the pub.
I don't think we will sign anyone above £1m. Wake up, we are no longer a Premier League club. We desprately need money by selling overpaid underperformers. Yes he has scored 30 goals in 90 games but I think the board have learnt the lesson and will noy pay such amount anymore.

I don't think we will be restricted by such a rule. As long as we get some return for the outgoing players and we trim the wage bill down there shouldn't be any problem spending money on new players.

With you Buffalo I think they have invested to much the last two season to now go down a route of saying we wont pay more then X. I think we will now base fees and wages on what we as a club think a players worth is to us rather then the last procedure of paying what agents and managers best mates suggest is a players worth

Since when do we "desperately need money".....?
You talk like we're on the brink of bankruptcy and collecting in buckets again. Our owners aren't desperate for anything, least of all money. WE also have £15m parachute payments to eat a fair chunk of the salary hit, as will the on-going lucrative sponsorship deals we secured, not to mention there will be some players sold, and in the likes of Cesar who came on a free, for a profit so hardly as desperate as you suggest.
The main fact of this season is they will want desperately to go up immediately. The best chance of that is a bit of further investment, either from pocket or from generated revenue from transfers being re-invested in the side so we have too much for this league.
The reported fee was more like £2 million as i read it but that would probably rise with add ons. I looked at some of his goals on youtube and he looks pretty good although youtube can do that to almost anybody. He looked quick not scared of a shot from distance and his set up play and heading also looked good. From what i saw i'd rather take a risk on him than bringing in a free agent like Cole or overpaying for the likes of Austin or Gayle

I do have an issue go the foreign route and it hasn't done us many favours. I am also a proud england fan, allbeit we are going through a rough period but this is partly due to the crazy money wanted for someone like Austin. I know a burnley season ticket holder and he said Austins good but he think he would struggle in the premier league but joining a club like us would help him progress if we could create plenty of chances. He will be priced at double what he's worth so it does make it hard going that route but it's a route I rather go, going by the last 2 seasons of buying too many foreigners

I see what you mean but you're putting it wrong mate. We are not in desperate need of money, we're rather desperate to replace the underperformers with pros - if possible, on the same wages. As WeAre said, we're not on the brink of bankruptcy. We have some of the best in the business handling our finances, and I trust them - it's up down to Harry to do the best with the funds made available for him. We need a bit of luck to offload the ***** like bosingwa, cisse, M'bia etc. Maybe some russian club could be our saviour.
I think we're desperate to start the revolution, not getting money to 'save ourselves'.
