  • Taarabt should HAVE NEVER BEEN our Golden Boy - Lost full respect

Like probably loadsa Rs fans, im reading Warnock's Autobiography for Rangers related stories.
And one thing that is constant through the book is how un-proffesional Adel was and probably still is.
There are more stories in the book about Adel then any other player and i personally dont know how Warnock put up with him.

Like all Rs fans i loved Adel in the season we went up, the things he did were genius and i thought he was brilliant.
But after being through 3/4 of Warnocks book and having read paragraph after paragraph of how un-proffesional Adel is, i have now finally lost respect for him.
The guy got us up yea but his a shambles. He never and probably still doesnt sometimes turn up for training, he goes missing for days on end with no
correspondance to coaching staff. He left the end of season awards early because he didnt win player of the year. I mean, thats ridiculous.
No matter how good you are, YOU have to keep some sort of proffesionalism and he just didnt.

He got us out of the Championship yea but if i knew at the time all what i do now about his behaviour then i would rather of got shot of him.
In many ways i think letting Adel be how he was started our downfall of players behaving un-proffesionally. Players see Adel getting that..
'He can do what he wants because he will win us games' treatment and they start to push the boudaries themselves and i think thats partly what happened.
Adel was never and is never going to be in it for the club and i got the impression he will not change.. Ever!
So yes.. i hope we sell him this coming season along with all the others like him.

Players like Adel, shouldnt be our 'Golden boys'. Players like Mackie, Derry, Hill should.
I wouldnt let my kid get Taraabt on the back of his shirt, put it that way.

    Adel has an attitude problem?

Why has no-one mentioned this before?

    :yush:

    You'd have hated Stan Bowles......

See your point mate and each to their own, but it really is this simple in my mind: if it wasn't for Adel we wouldn't have gone up - and Warnock knew that, hense putting up with him. Proved worthwhile n all.

Forget the past 2 years in the PL (as that's a debate in itself that's been had 100 times over on here!), but the year we came up Adel was unbelievable - scored 19 and set up 22 goals in the league or something, winning the football league player of the year. Now I'm not disputing that he was like a petulant child at times, but I think our manager at the time needed to weigh up the options; either treat him the same as anybody else, discipline the tantrums and end up flogging him mid-season due to him wanting out, or bite your tongue and put up with a few tantrums, rub his belly abit telling him how he is great, and watch him win you the league. Warnock optedfor the latter, and low 7 behold, we won the league.

Personally, think Warnock got it spot on with how he treated Adel. Built a team of grafters aroudn him allowing him to do what he does best; nut meg people and score sublime goals!
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Oh no....I can see a lot of Adel Adorers rushing to his defence very soon!

Quick! They're coming with their Taarabt Truncheons to beat you down...

Haha all i have to say is Adel lovers should read Warnocks book because it is astonishing the behaviour of Tarbs. 1 min his crying wanting everyone to go PSG and next minute
he wants to stay. I've got so much respect for Warnock and how he handled him but Taraabt has forgotten where he was before 2010, he was a player no one wanted to take a chance on.

I cant see him sticking around this summer and after the season with had with no heart. I dont think we need someone with attitude like his, no matter how good he is.

As i say, him being how he was then opened the door for other players to be that way and get away with it. Cos no doubt some of them like SWP thought they were every bit as good as
            Tarbs.

Adel Taarabt is the modern day equivalent of Stan Bowles...and I will gladly put up with their antics (legal ones) as long as they win games for QPR.

Others who want to behave the way he did, need to show that they can also do what he did on the pitch i.e. score and creat goals out of nothing.

It doesnt work in the Prem though! You cant have players with attitude like that. He never turned up for training, he went out, went to Morroco without telling anyone.
He put on weight cos he never trained. He never once won a game for us in the Prem because you cant have that lifestyle in the Prem.

I dont want players in that club who do things like that, i dont care how good they are. Its not the right attutude. You have to set an example for youngsters the academy boys.
Adel didnt do that. Our club is like how it is now because of players with the Attitude of Tarbs. Its wrong.

Bowles was as good as gold compared to Adel. He trained hard, was always on time, never went AWOL, played for the team. And he respected each manager. Took the mick out of Jim Gregory moneywise and did put in endless transfer requests, mind.

My eyes must be playing tricks on me, must of been mackie who won us the game v fulham. I've read the book and I am not trying to defend Adel for some of the stuff he done because it was outrageous, but Warnock was the one who let him get away with it and kept playing him. So if he knew this of course he was going to take the p*ss. If your company boss didn't give a t0ss if you was off sick all the time or if he/she didn't care if you didn't turn up, I guarantee you would do it as well.

Can see your point but we all knew that he was trouble and so did warnock when he signed him. He wore the captains armband to mature but we all knew that Derry, hill and Kenny were on-field captains. Warnock coped with Adels attitude all season hence he was quality, like matty said. I believe Adel loves the club. Hopefully we can keep him this year and he'll once again tear the defences of the NPC apart.

Sorry.. You enjoyed the premier league then did you?

And as for Adels No 1 fan above - One game against Fulham, he played well. i rest my case.
Give me Mackie ahead of Adel every day of the week. Who won the game for us at home against Liverpool... Mackie.
Who scored away at United.. Mackie.
Who turns up for training... Mackie

Proffesionalism and attitude outweighs talent everyday of the week.
You can have all the talent in the world but if you dont work hard and be proffesional, you will never become the best player you can be.

Tarbs has talent but will never be a role model and will always be 2 stone overweight.

Time for Adel to go. Hasn't matured, put on weight and despite the odd decent few games is more a liability than anything else.

No Adel no Premier League? Give me a break. We need to unify the team and start playing as a team. We won't do that by accommodating a rotund bad boy who thinks he's Messi but most of the time plays like a slow version of Muffin the Mule.

100% correct... Well said! We need to get rid of all players with the attitude of Adel.
