Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought we took over 40 000 to the '86 final the most for quite some time???

Thats true , we had so many in the upper tier , loads of us had to go out onto the running track and got put in the lower tier because of overcrowding . We certainly did sell out in 86.

Personally though (as ive said loads on here ) , i dont support us playing in a massive soulless , corporate sponsored , stadium come retail park , it sounds like hell to me. ( And if the price for not selling out , to the Fankie and Bennys ,air asia stadium , is not winning cups and playing in the top flight , well , i can live with that ).

Factomondo, please go and support Chelsea as soon as possible. You are half way there already.

Take a step back and think about it. Did the likes of Brighton get 24000 season ticket holders with their old stadium??? Think about it.......establish a venue where people can engage the club and you have your answer. STOP gloating and trying to put down our club
Fifteen posts and you have the cheek to take on Facto who's posted 25K posts..... Wow. You don't exactly have a licence to kill though, do you bro???

i couldnt get a ticket for the 82 final i had to use a tout , the club stitched up fans by giving out vouchers at the home game against orient . i knew lots of people that paid in then paid in again to get another voucher . i also knew loads of people that applied to the club for ticks but to no avail. we had a lot more than 26k i took photos starting from the friday nite to after the game

Indeed thats true I was ne of those. but sadly our support has dwindled since the mid/late 70s when we probably had our best team with crowd around 24k average and early/ mid 80s probably have had a hard core 12-13k over the rest of the time, and were left behind by Chelscum & Fulhams success, over that period losing a lot of local support to those club because they were in the prem and we were struggling in the lower leagues and most kids and youngsters want to be associated with the top clubs, I think most of our young support are ther because of indoctonation of the family I know my sons have, and they are all very passionate Rs fans for some years

My old man was the star player for HMP Parkhurst during their successful and unbeaten 77/78 season.

Agree, the club didn't do the fans any favours.
Luckily I had the vouchers, but was approached by many offering to buy vouchers off me.
                      Similar scenario for the replay.
Was at the ground at first light on the Sunday morning for the replay tickets & there was quite a line up.

72, do you have those photos posted up anywhere?
