  • Tommy Nintendo (QPR Related)

Given another thread saying there was a lack of threads thought I would raise this and try to get to the bottom of it hopefully with help from your guys

For those of you who used to read the fanzines a good 15 years ago there was a massive smear campaign against a few fans which got quite nasty in one of the fanzines by someone calling themselves Tommy Nintendo. I never ever managed to work out what it was all about but it became quite high profile among Rangers fans and I think it turned out it was one on the QPR board of Directors behind the campaign

Is anyone able to give me the lowdown on what actually went on???

the smear campaign was targeted primarily at Dave Thomas and AKUTR's. it was eventually sorted, it did involve someone who was closely involved with the club at the time, not going to mention the name as its history now. It was an interesting bit of forensic detective work at the time.

That's kind of what I recall PeterG; Dave put the pieces to the puzzle together and did he not front out the suspect??? Do you know what it was to do with though that's what I have never got to the bottom of

There was a unscheduled meet and greet. Tommy worked for the club, AKUTRs was not particularly complimentary of the club hierachy at the time, thats one potential reason. combine that with the guy being a pratt and I think you have the answer

Always liked DT and think he does a fantastic job with AKUTRs although I no longer buy anymore

He does get a bit grumpy when you ask him if he has any programmes

Indeed he does, but that just makes it funnier

There used to be three or four decent fanzines but think only AKUTRs is left now

I actually think that the introduction of forums such as this finished off fanzines I have to hold my hands up and say that's why I don't buy no more

Yes heard of them apart from Dead Donkey. Used to be a decent read on the way home from a home or away game.

Back in the day other then the match programme and clubcall the fanzine was the only other place to find out about your club

AKUTR's is the daddy there's no doubt about it.

In the Loft was a decent enough read in its day as well though and it was a shame when it stopped.

All quiet on the western ave was the work of Pete Doherty. I never read any of those, does anyone know if it was any good.

Allegedly big bags of money exchanged hands in an M1 motorway service station at the last minute to the stop the true identities of those behind Tommy Nintendo et all.

I think there was only 3/4 of them and I'm sure I've got them all put away in the loft. The dead donkey one was early 90s
