  • Samba Diakite interview

It's in french so your browser should translate it for you. Good read. Sounds like a decent lad who wanted to play for this club for many years, but when Harry came in he hasn't featured much and is unsure on his future, and says he wouldn't mind playing in the Championship but may end up leaving due to Harry's decisions. He also stated that he never had depression, it was actually food poisoning that kept him out for a while.

On his relationship with Redknapp: "We had a very good relationship, but for I do not know why he did not play me . This is not in relation to my level but it has its reasons which I never wanted to know. If he has something in his head, he will not change. This is his method to him. I do not blame him, I don't blame anyone. Six months, it was super long. But I keep morale. I'm not a problem. He made his choice, and it happened, but I have nothing to reproach myself. If this may be the result of not having gone to see him to discuss with him"

He also mentions that although we had great players, the dressing room was split and there was a lot of individualism with the french and english lads.

"When you went to the corner and saw our fans celebrating the way they were you just wanted to be part of it" - Shaun Derry after we beat the scum 1-0

I think he answers his own question. He says that he never went to see Harry to discuss the problems with him. I think he should have done (or do) this. When Harry arrived he had not played in many games and perhaps he never really indicated to Harry that he was ready to play. This appears to be a cultural problem.

Also the food poisoning story does not really make sense. He missed a number of games at the end of last season (2011-2012) because of illness and at the beginning of this season he played a couple of games and then went missing. Food poisoning does not last this long. There was also a rumour that he suffered from malaria. If it wasn't depression this is more likely as this is something which can come and go.

Its a hard thing to admit to suffering from depression. The last thing he needs is people talking about his state of mind. It'll only make him worse. I know this from experience. If I were him I'd want the club to keep it quiet. Maybe he's away having counselling and some rehabilitation
i supported qpr in the glory days when chris kiwomya and michael ngonge played up front

Agree with this, the bloke is clearly in denial which can be worry.

I know someone that just got worse and worse but never thought there was a problem and refused any kind of help. It wasn't until it was too late that people took note. Imo mental problems are dismissed in society, my friend continued to work and the company did nothing to help him until it got far too serious.

Unfortunately there is no cure and after a serious break down imo that person is never the same, very sad and I hope he gets through it.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

HR probably did not play him as he did not show/talk the desire to play. HR likes characters and maybe Diakite is a bit of an introvert.

I agree. This is in poor taste about a serious subject.

Something doesn't add up. Not sure why Harry doesn't rate him. He played him plenty at the start and then he never really got another look in, bar that one substitute appearance (against Stoke? I can't remember, but when he came on he did OK).

I think it was that shocking liverpool performance, coupled with him going to afcon and getting injured there that kept him out.
The thing i dont understand is how he said that he would not go to afcon because the club supported him so much while adel said he wanted to go, yet the opposite happened. Makes me wonder whether harry told him to go

                            Funnily enough - I think he'd be a revelation in Div2.

A big strong bloke who likes to run at defenders..... providing he can stay with the programme for whatever reason.

Out of all the Afro-French ponces he may well have the most to offer........
