rather pay that money over the remainder of his contract and have him available. If he thinks he is too good for the Championship & don't wanna play then let the pr1ck rot in the reserves until his contract is up.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

By all accounts he turned up for training, worked hard, performed well, and competed for the title in France. Any one of those attributes puts him head and shoulders above any of the CMs at the club.

I am sure his abrasive manner is an annoyance to the club. But to be honest if Harry wants him back and the dross gone then forget paying Barton off, keep him and pay off the flops that are so bad nobody will buy.
      agreed

Does anybody know when his loan period actually ends? I assume that whenever that is he simply returns to the club if the club and himself have not come to any arrangement with Marseilles.

Depends if it will leave us in a better position financially if we pay him off.

First thoughts were to let him rot, BUT I dont want this to turn into a WBA/Odemwengie situation. Had WBA let him go, they would have got 4mil from us plus saved on his wages. Now his value has dropped big time.

Pride etc is important but only if it makes business sense.

This is a different situation. As far as I know no club wants to pay us for Joey. I'm sure if a club was to come in with an offer for him the club would consider it. The only thing the club would save on if they accepted this offer (and I don't believe they are even considering it) would be half his wages over two years. If no other team wants to pay for his transfer now, this can hardly be worse at the end of his contract.

Simple. Refuse him a pay off, make him stay in the reserves. Then next season offer him a free. If he refuses, he'll face being benched for two years and likely the end of his playing career.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

No way that is a ridiculous amount of money to just pay someone off.

Although we were idiots to pay that sort of wage in the first place.

Im sorry but, they can fine him for wrong doing with twitter but can stop him....
Yep they can tell him to stop...seem to remember saf banning united players from tweeting. I read somewhere a player being told to put his feet up at home, and was seen out and about (not doing anything strenuous) and was fined for not doing as he was told, something as simple as that.Don't think we will or can though as TF likes tweeting and that's a bit pot and kettle.

Agree with you Facto, but that slimy parasite Gordon Taylor will be threatening us with all sorts of c*** if we dare go against one of his over pampered members

It seems perfectly normal to him to want to keep collecting QPR wages but play elsewhere. How they got into this mess i don't know, its mental.

keep him on the payroll and if he doesnt want to stay and play let him rot in the reserves. It may be a waste of money, but it will show him...and others that they do not have total control just yet.

I guess that he would rather play football than let his career go on hold for two more years. Even if he 'retires' QPR will still hold his registration for 2 more years.

If they pay him off it could encourage others like Cisse, Mbia Bosingwa, Ferdinand etc to try the same. paying them off could ebnd up costing QPR £25-30M.

He wants out of his contract he shold be paying us to get out of the contract not the other way around.

Time for TF to show his mettle and let players know who's boss. Joey is just one scrote and should be no big deal for the board to tell him how it is and he either comes back with his tail between his legs, we sell him to some unfortunate club or he pays out his contract if the board are willing to let him do this.

Time to stop to Twitter nonsense Joseph. The majority of his followers only do so as he continually makes a priick of himself and it provides them with some entertainment. Thinking about it his Twitter followers have probably got more out of him than we have!
                                This is exactly it.

The problem with Barton though is he thinks he is far smarter than what he actually is.....bit like footballs answer to Chris Eubank!
