Ok it's being reported in the Sun, but apparently Joey wants us to pay up half his contract to leave. This amounts to £3.5mill. Would you pay him off that amount?
I think we hold the aces here and i think more negotiation is needed.

JOEY BARTON is after a whopping £3.5million to quit QPR.

The hothead midfielder missed Hoops’ relegation last season while on loan at Marseille in France and wants a permanent move.

But he still has two years left on a £70,000-a-week deal and is demanding half of that to get him off the payroll.

QPR must offload a host of highly-paid flops to trim costs after finishing bottom in the Prem.

Boss Harry Redknapp wants Barton, 30, back but admits it will be tough to get him to swap the French Riviera for the Championship.

And cutting their losses on bad-boy Barton would save the West London club £3.5million, which Redknapp could reinvest.

But it is still a huge sum to write off in order to get rid of one player.

Barton could use his payoff to offset the costs of moving to Marseille after the club said he must take a 50 per cent pay CUT to stay on.

I personally wouldnt let him go.

1. He is a good player and by far our best CM, we missed him last season no matter what people say.
2. Ive moved on from the incident.
3. Finding that sort of money up front is pretty hard.
4. IF we pay him off, he wins
5. Marseille will take him for free when actually we deserve money back from this.

I agree with a couple of your points 3,4 & 5. He doesn't want to stay though so no 1 is irrelevant. Lot of money to find as you say, and we are in control here......At least he finally is trying to do a deal

Im not entirely sure why people would pay a guy off knowing he has been such a d1ck in the past?

Surely that means he has won?? What a waste of money it would be to smash 3.5 million to get rid off someone who could help us back up

IMO Joey may have said wrong things now and then but he will always work hard. And therefore for that reason I would keep the guy.

Little bit too late for that.......we seemingly gave a £70000 per week contract to a VERY ordinary footballer.....
