That could happen, you run that risk with any player these days.. as we found out.

Im not sure Barton is like that, he isnt that type of guy - He's too proud to be classed as that type of player?

But paying 3 Million up front to get rid off him would be nutz I guess. May as well pay him his wages and take a gamble on him making the difference.

Thing with Joey is his hype and self promotion has always been far higher than his actual ability. If you listen to him he should have been an England regular for years. He got one cap and may have got a few more (and I mean a few) save for his 'issues' but he was never good enough to be anything other than a fringe player at the very best. Also not good enough to play for a top six side. Again he seems to think he should have. I remember one game last year he was banging on about being a football technician beforehand which I found quite funny. He spent most of the game trying Beckhamesque cross field balls which never hit the mark and looked generally incompetent. He has this last season gone on about being the best midfielder in the French league.

The guy is a legend in his own mind. To me he is a very average Premiership footballer. He had some good games for us but also some shockers along with all the baggage and embarrassing Twitter nonsense. He simply is quite stupid and delusional and through the marvels of modern communications has a window to the outside world which allows him to talk rubbish continually to his army of followers.

We should get shot but on our terms. He wants out he can make the club an offer to buy out the remainder of his contract.

Is he better than what we have ignoring the baggage? Arguable. I would personally have Faurlin and Jenas in front of him and I wouldn't have him ahead of likes of Diakite or Park but competing with them.
