  • DJ Campbell, the forgotten man

It continues to be a mystery to me, especially considering all the rhetoric of late regarding 'we need players who want to play for QPR', why DJ Campbell continues to be overlooked by recent managers @ QPR.
This article by Sean Smith is on track with my thinking:
Visit ESPN for soccer live scores, highlights and news from all major soccer leagues. Stream games on ESPN and play Fantasy Soccer.

DJ did well @ Ipswich last year. He had previously done well in the Prem with Blackpool - surely with the commitemnt he has for the R's, he'd be worth hanging on to in the Championship, especially considering our current options. It's not making sense to me why we are letting him go ahead of securing other, 'better' options.

Clearly Hughes and now Redknapp don't like the guy and see things we (or I) don't. I think it's a genuine shame he's not given more of a chance this coming season.

    Thoughts?

          Wish we kept him

Scores goals at this level, showed that last year at Ipswich.

Added bonus, is his low wages and love for the club.

Shame, just what we need IMO

Got to be something we don't know about !
To me he would be the ideal replacement when the invalid AJ will be on the treatment table

I really don't understand what went on here, the guy is exactly what we need for next season, a passionate Championship goalscorer on a low wage!! I'd love to know what went on behind the scenes with him (if anything). Seems like we just didn't want to give him a chance.
"Imagine a relationship that went wrong but you held on in there for years: that's what it is like supporting a football team. Your loyalty to a team can never die. Ties are stronger than they could ever be with a woman. If she goes and sleeps with your best mate, it's over. If the Rs' boss, Ian Holloway, slept with my best mate, QPR would still be my team. Even if many of the things that you loved about going to matches have gone - terraces, team shirts without sponsors and being able to smoke at grounds - you still stick with your team." - Peter Doherty.

Stupid decision to release him, he's exactly the kind of player we need next season. Loves the club and scores for fun in that league.

since moving from Yeading he's scored 65 goals in 216 appearnaces, hardly scores for fun!

I don't think he would have been our savior at all, but having him in the squad would have been far more beneficial that some of the $hit we've currently got. At least he gives 100%.

Also, he banged in 10 in 17 this season on loan at Ipswich - not to mention his 13 PL goals in Blackpool's season in the PL - certainly knows where the net is.

                        DJ showed too much loyalty

How dare he kiss the badge when he scored

Would rather Johnson anyday, just look at his amazing scoring record

I like DJ as he is a QPR fan but I defy anyone who saw his lack of effort away at MKDons two seasons ago to suggest that being a fan makes you play better and put in more effort as on that day his performance/effort was a kin to those who we have spent the last 9 months moaning about and if my memory serves me right after that game this board was full of people questioning his attitude.
