Hmm, not so sure. I agree they have made bad errors but Mark Hughes and Harry Redknapp haven't exactly covered themselves in glory, have they? The managers of Norwich, Wigan etc wd probably have loved the money Fernandez gave his managers. With the exception of Park which might well have been a marketing buy - though one we all thought was a great coup at the time - virtually all the players bought have been the manager's choice. I don't think Fernandez was desperate to sign Andrew "sorry gaffer I've got a sore toe" johnson etc etc. why are "football people" somehow exempt from any blame or responsibility on here? thats what im getting at.

        excellent article!

'Though most QPR fans would applaud the club for sticking firm and not signing Bridge, there are fresh concerns about the stability of the manager. Stability is the watchword at the moment, but can any club with Harry Redknapp in charge really claim to have stability? Perhaps any club with a 66-year-old in charge should be looking ahead to their next manager. '

Oh ffs .....anything you can say about this or not Ric?.....This is a f*ckin joke......if we were in dodge city in a dual, we'd shoot ourselves in the foot.

                • Didn't we bring in the young Korean to feature as a left back? Obviously that was a board decision and one not sanctioned by H. So perhaps the discussion was something like H to TF - I want the good but ageing and expensive (relatively in terms of wages) Bridge at left back - TF to H - I though we agreed it would be youngsters at a fraction of the cost and we've got Yun Sul Young who is Young by name and by nature so No!?

There is that. And when you say cheap wasn't he about £800,000 - not that cheap for a reserve left back for a championship club when we already have traore (£1.5m?). it wasnt all that long ago when we were struggling to buy a player for £50,000 in the championship.

                    • Not Redknapp's signing though was he? Big difference. This has a TF signing all over it.

True Ric but we still have two expensive left backs on our books. Harry was notorious at Spurs for stacking up a massive expensive squad. I don't claim to know the ins and outs of tony's finances but my guess is he bet the house on staying up, he (and mark hughes and harry redknapp) failed big time and now he has turned round to the manger and said "enough's enough" - he must already have the most expensive squad in that division by a country mile.

                        • I think these are the key points - Yun was not Harry's choice and as Ric says has TF's mark all over him. If H doesn't rate him then that's his right if the Board are going to let him make all the choices.
Yun wasn't "cheap" and nor was Traore - so we have 2 left backs knocking around that cost a few bob. Traore wants to go because he thinks he can play in the PL - fine if we can get some money for him. TF won't want Yun to go because it makes it a daft decision to bring him in in the first place. H wants Bridge but TF doesn't want to pay for him (or his previous investment) to sit on the bench and/or in Bridge's case lay on the treatment table.
There has to be a balance but I would guess the Board will try and manipulate Harry's choices if the age/price/sale-ability/ and the like don't work for them.
That must surely end in tears and hey presto we end up without a manager at the start of the season and then a rush to sign players before the window shuts and it all begins again!!

Yun was a Redknapp signing. He was scouted by Harry's own man, Ian Broomfield. That's what we were all told anyway.

And Harry wanted Bridge to replace Traore, who he was planning to sell.
