Out of all the players who have been contracted to the club or on loan this season, this would've been my starting XI:
Cesar
Fabio Samba Hill Traore
Barton Faurlin
Townsend Taarabt Hoilett
Remy
Subs: Green Harriman Onouha Derry Mackie Diakite Cisse
Too many under-performed, too many didn't give a toss, and too many thought they were too good for QPR which evidently they're not.
I think the team I selected should've been able to give a fair few EPL teams a good run for their money, after all, they're not terrible players. They just couldn't get it together as a team.
That's why I'm convinced the problems were poor management, poor attitude and poor coaching. We all expected these individuals to function as a team and produce the form they showed with their previous clubs. What happened to the goal machine that was Cisse? Why does Barton despise Hughes so much? Why didn't Taarabt demonstrate the undeniable talent he has? Why has Hoilett become a shadow of the player he was at Blackburn? Why has Diakite faded so badly? Why has it taken Samba so long to get fit? Why has Ji Sung Park gone from being a good Man Utd squad player to a poor QPR player so quickly?
I simply cannot believe all these good players have become bad players over the course of a season. The rumoured rifts in the dressing room were allowed to fester and nothing was done about this. I'd love to know what the training sessions were like and what was done about team-bonding because that's where I believe the problems lie.
Harry was right when he said these are good players. Unfortunately they didn't work as a unit because the damage was already done under Hughes's watch. Ultimately, that's why I believe Harry couldn't save us.
