    Ben Kosky said yesterday
"Contrary to reports this week, it is understood that Rangers never made a formal bid for Scunthorpe striker Gary Hooper ahead of the transfer deadline.

QPR sporting director Gianni Paladini was told that Scunthorpe would not sell Hooper at any price when he spoke to chairman Steve Wharton after last weekend's game at Glanford Park"

So still what the reader wants to believe either way from the reporters article and still no facts which is a shame.

OK - my take on this.

We definitely enquired about Hooper and put a "ball park" figure out there. Whether that constitutes a bid or not is a moot point (and football doesn't tend to work to dictionary definitions...). Remember here that the Scunthorpe chairman will also have his own agenda and his own PR views to placate things his end. It's very rare nowadays for "formal" written bids to be placed.

Bale - enquired about a loan - nothing doing in view of his injury and Spurs limited cover at Left Back.

Was it Bale that the board decided was a better option at left back than the Chelsea kid who went to Coventry?

Bang on and just about what I was trying to say.

The Scunthorpe Chairman will be wanting to keep his own fans happy and one of the best ways is to say you are keeping your best players.

I would not expect Paladini to say yes we have listened to offers for Buzz etc as this would seriously pee QPR fans off and I fully expect that the Scunthorpe Chairman is using exactly the same rules.

Of course the Scunthorpe Chairman could be telling the truth but until either he or Paladini ever wish to clarify then we are going around in circles

Last word on this shabby matter (happy days) but I thought the Scunthorpe chairman did clarify the matter yesterday and that's why we are going round in circles with so may people defending Paladini, who clarified the matter himself, through his journalist mate Ben Kosky.

Good debate this anyway mate and glad it has all been civalised

I would hardly call Kosky a mate of Paladinis and quite the opposite in fact judgeing by past articles and from what you have published no quotes were attributed to him saying that he misled fans or anything similar and it looks as though it is completely the reporters version of events.

Anyway been good chatting but I have to do at least some work today
