  • The same mistakes again????

are we going to make the same mistakes again? or has tony learnt anything about running a football club. we have been linked to crouch and dunne and whilst they are both good players they are coming to the end of their careers. players like this can only be bought on one season contracts imo or we risk going down the road of having footballers at the club(to join our other big earning long contracted mob) that will be past it possibly after next season with no sell on value. if we were to go up with players like crouch, dunne we would need wholesale changes again and you know where that left us last time out. we have to get this window right for continuity,a settled team and a winning mentality so lets hope that TF has become a little bit more wise in his dealings and we are not thought of as a soft touch for agents and players alike.

I agree with you but would like to add the words ...'and managers'....to your last sentence!

Tbh I think Crouch would be a good signing. He isn't past it and I think he'd score goals for fun in the championship. Also loves the Rangers so I think his heart would be in it. Knows Redknapp and I think he is a top lad that would give his all.

However Dunne is the complete opposite. Should be retired, turns like a small truck and is well well past it. Never rated him much and even in the championship he'll get skinned. A dreadful hoofer that would be no improvement on Anton Ferdinand who will expect good wages, would rather sign a striker and play him at the back. I get your point bush but I think there is a massive difference as to what these 2 players can offer. Zamora looks finished and I think Crouch would be a starting 11 player who would suit Remy.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Harry is probably only here for the money too, in the sense of if there wasn't much money available, do you think he would have stayed?

I think it really comes down to how many we can shift out ,those players mentioned would be good additions along side Parker too, with the likes of spurs Adam Smith and Jake Livermore ,Derry Hill have done their job and should be allowed to leave with thanks, Boswinga Traore Diakiti AJ we should look to get shot of but that's the difficult part

i'd take both on a one year contract weare but my real worry would be we offer them longer ones and/if we were to return to the prem we would have players in 18 months time that wont be good enough. dunne has one year left in him and can do a good job in the championship whilst crouch is not as good as he was and after i season out of the top flight i struggle to see him having any impact at that level anymore. my point really is that we have been burnt before regarding getting seasoned pro's in and still seem to be heading down that road again....

I hope he has learned, but the fact that Harry made a very public announcement that are wages are ludicrous and then we go on to sign players in the window for stupid salaries....one deal described by the players old club as "madness"...makes me wonder if he does learn from his mistakes.

If Crouch and DJ played up front at least we'd know their hearts were in it.

Could be a nice little combination actually.

being linked with old players is different from buying them.

Now that everybody from the fans to the press expect us to sign old past it players it easy to write an article that says 'QPR to sign old player who is not getting a game at current club'

The short term problem is producing a team that can do a good job next season. That's possibly why we're being linked with older, experienced players.

The long term problem is producing good young players for the future. That's why the new academy is so important. I think the board has done the right thing with this.

Need to offload as many of the current squad we have. Get rid of enough and we may have a good season..too few and it could be another poor one.

Well that's what's got to be on H's mind what we need is a lot of space to bring in a few older heads with at least 6 younger players to create a team not just a side for the next season as well as this

Worth remembering that the youngster in the team last season was a lad Harry brought in and gave his top flight debut and he impressed the socks off everybody - and you can look at all the ex WHU players in the EPL he gave debuts too - hes prob brought more young players through than anybody. But you need a balance between youth and experience and a good atmosphere as opposed to a snake pit which is prob why he may be looking at the Crouch/Dunne type players.

Id be happy with a couple of experienced players who want to prove they have still got what it takes like Crouch and Dunne - much better than experienced players who have come for a final pay day
