We definitely enquired about Hooper's availability. Whether that escalated into a proper bid, I don't know. Anyway who knows what constitutes a formal bid these days? Email, fax or Chairman to Chairman conversation?

Unfortunately the word bid does have a number of meanings, including 'to make an attempt'.

In a football sense, it normally has money attached and doesn't seem to have had it in this case, hence the opprobrium.

we've chased Watson asthougth he and he alone can carry us on to promotion - in my opinion we're far too top heavy in midfield and fail to see what he will add to our present squad - unless of course the plan is to unload some of our midfielders - in which case he could be a bonus - still feel we desperately need our strikers to perform and felt a proven goalscorer could have sparked a fight for places - also concerned about the number of loan players we now have onboard - considering a thread from Pete that stated the opposite (not a pop at Pete) - if our current squad can't supply us with a selection headache surely it's time to chop out the dead wood ?

Absolutely fantastic news if true about Watson - what a coup. Woo! He really woul get into any championship team's first 11. Fab.

Who will go? Interesting Rowly ref - is he on way out?

People not having a go at this site - as Paul points out, Gianni gave a quote on the BBC, though there is still your post saying we have put in a bigger offer - tho as you say, that might have come from elsewhere.

Why can't we just all leave it
We haven't got hooper and I am very disappointed by this but we all seem to want someone to blame. Gianni is a great man in my eyes that has done more good things than bad for this football club, so lets all leave it now.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

It does not matter now whether we made a bid for Hooper of not. We did not get him anyway.
