They were going up and down with roughly the same squad. We have gone up, bought a whole new team, got relegated and by the sounds of things are going to have a new team again.

I don't think there is any harm going up and down if you are finding your feet. But we are like a bull in a china shop and it won't work. Stability starts with the squad. Won't get passion and loyalty with different players every year.

West Brom did it the best way. They got up with good players, bought a few really good (but not that expensive) ones from the Championship. They knew they'd get relegated but they had a top squad for that leaugue and kept the TV-money. The year after they were outstanding together with Newcastle and since then they've been a PL club.

Imo that's how to bouild a PL club long term!

No harm if you then return to the prem and establish yourself. Who knows what will happen.

Going up collecting millions in TV revenue, going down receiving £40m parachute payments and then going up via the play offs receiving £90m. Sounds good, for the club anyway, the fans on the other hand... :TT-TT:

as said on here, going up, keeping roughly the same squad with a few additions, banking much of the money by not blowing it on inflated wages, getting relegated, and going up again, is not a bad way to build the foundations.
QPR did not do this. Warnock got rid of a few of the promotion winning players and froze others out then Hughes finished the job off and brought in players on ridiculously high wages (WBA pay their top earners around £30K).

It will be hard now for QPR to shift these overpriced and overpaid players, but if they could, I would like to see them go and replaced with younger players like Gayle, Artur, Madden on reasonable wages and if they win promotion to add a few more players, but this time pay them along the lines of WBA with a decent performance related pay bonus at the end of the season.

id rather compete in a league that we can win regular games in.
The PL has shown that unless you spend stupid money you are not winning the league. Europe, for a well established PL side perhaps.
The rest just fight to stay in.

I find it pretty mundane. Don't get me wrong the top teams play some amazing football - but too many teams in there. They talk about the fact that the bottom team can beat the top team and that's what makes it great - the FA cup does that.

The PL should be 10 teams. that would really showcase the top top clubs. The rest...well the championship sides could give them a good run for their money. Any team in the bottom half of the PL would not be out of place in the championship in my opinion. We're the worst yes, but the others aren't that much better.

Doesn't quite work like that. The parachute payment is ammortised over 4 years, so if you go up immediately, you'll only get a quarter of it. As for the play off's being worth X amount, that's basically the value of being in the prem the following season, and guranteed parachute payments thereafter should you drop immediately.

Next years bottom team will get more SKY money than Manure (£60m) did this season, without including parachute payments.

                            So no,there is no harm.
